Lady in the Water. Spoilers!!!

I know this has nothing to do with Toronto. But I have been waiting so long for this movie and I was disappointed. I am a huge M. Night Fan. The sixth Sense I loved, Unbreakable is one of my favourite movies. Village was good. In addition, Signs was okay. However, Lady in the Water sucked. Possible high nominations at the Razzies.

Possible Spoilers…

1. The opening animation… I had a hard time believing; man and the people from the Blue World separated as humans spread and grew away from the coast. Come on, all over the world, Lake or Ocean front property is where most want to live. Look at how many condos we have in Toronto by the harbour. If the lady/Story can appear out of a swimming pool why wait soo long for this appearance?

2. When the superintendent goes deep sea diving, how is it that he can hold his breath for so long? I know he has a cup full of air, but for someone doing it for the first time its hard to believe that he even thought of that or even capable of doing that.

3. The grass dog does not look real. I did not fear it, I did not care. I thought M. Night didn’t like special effects. This looked so fake.

4. Very convenient that the Chinese woman knew everything and all the rules regarding Naarfs. I guess it is her purpose in life.

5. M. Night took on a too important of a role in the movie. I guess that’s why he worked out and is a bit more styling in this movie than the previous ones.

6. Didn’t the movie critic person get eaten by the dog? Why was he back in a later scene? I don’t get that; perhaps someone could help me understand.

7. If I ever asked all my neighbours to help me put back an angel woman into the swimming pool. they would tell me to *beep* off. They would think I am crazy. However, the people at the cove are very helpful.

8. Now that they have found that guardian, The Lady can come in and out of the pool whenever she wants with the supervision of the half-strong man.

9. No wonder Disney pulled out.

I think that is it.

It's getting trashed on rottentomatoes.com. The Village didn't do too well either. Could Shyamalan be past his prime already?

He'll never top The Sixth Sense, at least not with a similar type of movie. I liked Unbreakable and Signs was entertaining...never saw The Village, though.

I was late to the Sixth Sense, but I loved Unbreakable and thought Signs was a fun movie, if not a little campy.

However, I had no desire to watch the Village (and like most people I guessed the 'twist' upon hearing the premise of the story a few months before its release), and I have even less desire to watch this.

I thought he lost it with Signs. It should have been called Holes.

Only decent movie he made was Sixth Sense. All the others have been horrible, especially Signs.

The Willage is good for a few laughs, but you can figure out the ending shortly after the opening credits roll.

4. Very convenient that the Chinese woman knew everything and all the rules regarding Naarfs. I guess it is her purpose in life.

This was just ridiculous, laughable to a certain point… she was like the all-knowing creature

Re point 3>

When Stanley Kubrick made the Shining, he changed the Topiary monster-animals in Stephen King's novel to the hedge maze, because special effects couldn't do it right.

I just finished watching the Shining...and I read the same thing on imdb.com's trivia page. I'm sure there's more to it than "special effects couldn't do it right." After all, this was Kubrick. I bet he wanted to put them in but knew it would add 2.5 years to the production schedule...he could not go overboard here or the kid would grow up.

"Damn, I thought this was a wet t-shirt thread..."

Why curse - you're just a google away from your heart's desire.

This place is still like 95% male. It would be a kind of gay wet tshirt contest.
