I've been summoned for Jury Duty.

Has anyone ever been summoned? If so, what was the experience like?

Were you selected as a juror? How long was your trial? What was it about?

It has not been unheard of to claim that ....

It has also not been unheard of potential jurors being held in contempt for doing so

Never been summoned, but even if I was -- I would probably not have known since I never read my mail (unless I am expecting something)

Jury duty sounds interesting, sort of closeup version of CourtTV

I'd love to do it, but I'm excluded from the lists. I'm told it's mostly boring, sitting around waiting to be called for a panel.

o so is nothing like the film 12 angry men....

i would love to see that happen, if i was ever called to jury.

I think cases like that tend only to happen in the movies. But some juries sit a long time, so who knows what goes on in there? This is Canada, and deliberations are confidential.

You're it.

Tell us about it when you get back in a few months.

I got the notice years ago when I was moving out of my parents house. Wrote moved on the notice and sent it back. Never heard from them again.

I was on a pool for potential jury duty about ten years ago, but things didn't progress beyond that point. I was thinking of ways of getting out of it, had I been called, and concluded that wearing a particularly loud bow tie to the screening process would probably do the trick nicely.
