Hamilton Royal Connaught Dead Again

Surely this building is protected under heritage laws..? When I lived in Hamilton I always hoped this grand old building would be restored. I'm not liking the look of this, but if it's this proposal or demolition I would definitely be for it.

I think it's fair to assume the "blank wall" is glass.....

Also, the scheme is (claimed to be) very schematic, and open to revision/refinement.
