GTTA now Metrolinx

The GTTA is launching their public process tomorrow, including:

- the unveiling of their new name
- the launch of their new web site
- the release of their first Green Paper on transportation trends and
outlooks (already available if you look in the board minutes, BTW)
- the public announcement of details on the Regional Transportation
Plan process, including public consultations

The new name is Metrolinx and the new Advisory Committee to Metrolinx will be introduce.

Over 100 people apply to be on this committee.

Steve Munro is expected to be on this committee and will have something to say about it at the 501 Forum Tuesday night at Metro Hall 310 at 6:30pm.

Ew. Yeah, not a fan. I don't imagine it'll get much exposure as a name, though. Sort of like WaterfronTO. I'm sure that there'll be much more discussion before they actually start using it as a transit brand. It's interesting to see 'Metro' back after all these years.

Interesting website, though. They highlight international models that they want to emulate, including Oyster and the RER.
