hmm, want to know what's funny - not that much has changed there since then.

That ramshackle house was one of three neighbourhood homes owned by the elderly and somewhat eccentric Walter Schimming, who died in 2006. When I moved to that part of Riverdale in 1990 the home wasn't in the greatest shape but still inhabited. One of the other properties was already abandoned and home to raccoons and birds. After old Walter died all three were sold and renovated and are lived in - that one by a Chinese doctor.

He actually lived in the detached house on the south side of Langley ( number 23? 25? ). The raccoon residence was the semi to the west of it. The house you've photographed was inhabited by an ancient "Chaz on Charles" couple for many years. And this couple renovated the raccoon house:

I was really impressed by the wonderful colours in this image on blogto.com:

Please visit the site or click on the thumbnail to enbiggen the image.

I've always loved those houses on Broadview and so glad the seem to be getting reno'd.......

That image you posted was taken by a co-worker of mine who is sitting next to me right now, a very talented photographer and truly amazing animator/designer.
