GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

As a student of U of G I have to register and ask why the hell 48 has to take a detour to Meadowvale 🤬
This information is from something like 10 years ago, and I don't know how true it is now or was then, but I was told by an RBC employee the bank was paying a subsidy to GO Transit to have buses on 407 routes flip down to Meadowvale to serve employees at their large office complex at Mississauga Road and the 401 with a stop literally at "Royal Bank Drive".

There should be some sort of dedicated express route to U of Guelph just like how the 30 is an established and reliable bus for UW/WLU for all 7 days of the week. No one from Toronto or Brampton wants to spend 2+ hours alone crawling on Highway 7 or through Meadowvale and i hope Metrolinx eventually realizes this.

It’s interesting how that area became a major transfer point between GO, Miway, and Brampton Transit buses. The area is legitimately a major employment area; a small dedicated bus terminal with easy access from Mississauga Road and the 401 might make sense, because the various bus stops are all over the place, often with no shelter.

Yeah 'cause they've been taking my comments and suggestions for the 21 bus seriously. /s
There is no solution for the 21. They need to pay CP and build another 2 tracks along the Milton line, period. Even after midnight, the 21 bus still gets stuck in Gardiner traffic. And I really don't see anyone at Metrolinx having the creativity to really make any road network changes to help the 21 bus (or any GO bus going that way) to get going any faster.

In the meantime, the Milton/Lisgar/Meadowvale branches of the 21 should probably go to Bramalea GO via Highway 407.
Oakville was also a good bet. But wasn't the whole reason why they cancelled that service in the first place because lots of people complained at having to transfer? (Apparently, having to sit in traffic and waste oodles of time is fine, as long as you don't have to get up and walk any distance). A diversion to Bramalea would set off the same chain of complaints again.

It would add a huge amount of extra traveling time for riders as it is totally out of the way more for Bramalea than Oakville. Seen few to no riders of Go buses arriving arriving departing Kipling terminal.

As it ben stated time after time, time to 4 track the Milton Line regardless the cost and able to have 2 way service 7 days a week using a 4-6 car train off peak and weekends. Service is hourly until the ridership is there to go to 30 minutes

Maybe last weekend was special but in the early afternoon I saw 23 people board a 25K and 11 people board a 29 bus at the Kipling Bus Terminal.

The problem is with how GO times their transfers. There's around 15 minutes of padding in the schedule, and the bus is scheduled to arrive at the station 15 minutes before the train's departure. Since there usually isn't much traffic on the route, this means you end up waiting the maximum possible amount of time to transfer to an every 30 minute train. I sometimes take the 12B from Niagara and it works the same way. If there's no traffic, you'll be able to make the 30 minute earlier train if you run.

It's kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation - if you add insufficient padding to the schedule, you run the risk of the passengers missing the train. The real question we need to be asking is why - for the love of God, why - we still haven't gotten back 15 minute service on Lakeshore West...

This is an idea that I’ve also thought of a lot. As Bramalea is well connected to a lot of key places in the GTA with many direct bus routes, it also helps connect Milton to even more destinations, and helps with the flexibility of where in Toronto the rider is heading to.

Going to Bramalea could possibly also be a quicker trip for some. Going North York/Scarborough? take the 41 to Highway 407 station or to Consumers Rd or STC. Going Midtown or Downtown? take the 36 to Yorkdale/York Mills or the GO Train depending on the location.

Both the 25K and 29 are a duplication of service alongside MiWay and the Transitway from Kipling to Winston Churchill so that is probably a huge factor in why there aren’t much riders boarding. It also costs more to use GO between those 2 points than to just use the Miway 109 bus at a flat fare. If the 21 went to Kipling, there is the fact that it would be serving Milton GO line stations so the ridership pattern would be completely different.
