Ford is Councillor for Ward 1 (Etobicoke North) and Holyday is Councillor for Ward 2 (Etobicoke Centre). Both Councillors represent the western edge of Toronto. The western extension would be entirely in Ward 1.
An eastern extension to at least the Finch Station on Line 1 would go through Wards 6 and 18. Waiting for Councillors Pasternak and Filion's recommendations.
East is more complex and expensive as a large part of it would be underground. This will require a lot more work and money than the extension to Woodbine GO.The extension east to Yonge is not even being considered, yet the EA has already been done.

Nah the city and/or Metrolinx will find an excuse to bury the entire extension underground and travel under the Humber River thus strapping a rocket to the cost. It has already been planned, only part underground is the station at Yonge, and the connection to it from the first intersection west of Yonge.East is more complex and expensive as a large part of it would be underground
The other question is where to put any intermediate stops.
