In the march update for the FWLRT construction they mention that the track from sentinel to norfinch will be ready first so they can start burning in the vehicles.

UPCOMING WORKS
Sentinel Rd.to Norfinch Rd./Oakdale Ave.
•For the next few months, crews will install tracks, rails, steel poles and overhead wires from west of the maintenance and storage facility to Sentinel Rd.
•The first set of LRVs arriving in summer will start being tested on this 1,800-metre section
•Mosaic will ‘burn in’ each LRV, driving them back and forth across the tracks for up to 600 km before they are put in service.

The trench section will for sure be one of the most unique parts of the line, and a first for Toronto transit.
They used a trench on the original Yonge Subway north of Bloor and south of Eglinton. Not unique.

I mean I guess that counts, but I think what he's referring to is something more vertical, something along the lines of 45th Street in Calgary (Source: City of Calgary):

or Tunney's Pasture in Ottawa (Source: RailFans):

Technically yes, but that’s much more of a wide open area trench, look at the trees on both sides! Finch will be much more trench like, quite vertical on both sides, very unique for the Toronto system!
Also very short and not a huge deal. Perhaps if they did that for Eg West, it would be much more exciting.
