Re: You did you homework! Thank You!
Hey FutureMayor
Great to see you at the Mayor's International Tribute to Lifetime Achievement today. OK, so maybe I was standing in the parking lot and at the bus stop but still --

That ain't the worst part. If you watch the video, Acting-Mayor Corbasson said that I raised several questions and to go see the Freedom of Information coordinator who'd be happy to answer them.
I then asked permission to go back up to the mike. Big mistake for Corbasson because that's when I told her that I'd already been to City Clerk's office, Internal Audit, Legal Services plus the actual Director of Information Technology and none could provide adequate answers.
I'm sure that went down well.
And then Councillor Corbasson repeated that the appropriate person for me to ask is the Freedom of Information Coordinator.
NO. NO. NO. Like. NO!
Jeezly Peets, it says right in the Corporate Report "These amendments have been reviewed and approved by Internal Audit and Legal Services".
Well I went to Internal Audit and she said yes, Internal Audit reviewed the amendments to the bylaw but didn't approve them (not in the mandate of Internal Audit to do that). So naturally I go to Legal Services because the report says they "reviewed and approved".
That Legal Services person? --no soap radio.
And the Corporate Report also said "These amendments were developed with extensive user input" so I figured Information Technology would've been tapped for input, right? I mean they have control of Mr. Delete Key.
I talked to the Director himself. Now he gave me insight (which actually increased my existing concerns) but no answers.
Acting-Mayor Corbasson shouldn't have fingered the Freedom of Information coordinator to try and answer this bylaw --the paper equivalent of a turd on a soda cracker if there ever was one.
Legal Services reviewed and approved --like what's so hard?
And then you had Legal Services sitting right there and not a peep. And the person who wrote the Corporate Report would've known it was Legal Services to make the noises. Double no peeps.
Instead, they hang the FOI coordinator out to dry in front of Rogers. A good thing there's only an audience of a dozen at any one time. I've grown to like the FOI coordinator and I was starting to get defensive for her.
Charming bunch you hang around with, Future Mayor.

I'm still crabby about it. But now I know how to get on the record. Letters. To Council. For the minutes. Now it won't just be their minutes that historians will have to rely on.

I'm disgusted that no one on Council spoke on the matter even after your passionate speech.

I'm sure if Mayor McCallion was present at the meeting, she would have thank you for speaking on the matter and might have asked Council and staff to think twice before approving the by-law change.
HAHAHAHAHAHA! Don't ever change, Future Mayor.
