Cozy Cafes

Cafe Marallo in Kensington. Funky, cozy and great for freak watching, but since it’s open to the street it won’t be as appealing in winter…

1) Not shorts! You're known for shorts. You can't be off-brand before November.

2) LOL those colours......... we've never even met, and yet it fits my picture of you perfectly.

So nice that there’s finally a nice indie cafe in the heart of St. Lawrence - Mofer. This one checks a lot of boxes - historic building, rustic interior, vibrant street life, and an unbeatable view. The yawning space lacks a certain intimacy however, and there could definitely be some more soft, comfortable seating.

This is very Mofer. Lots of functional seating........what you need to sit for 15 minutes and move along......so people will..........and 2 really comfy seats, close to the front, that keep bums in seats for long periods of time, which means the place always looks lively from the outside. Of course......it also means lots of disappointed customers who never get to sit in them. Just ask @UrbanAffair about that.

More of your classic colour scheme.......though......its a bit early for Christmas don't you think? Also...........are you sure those pants are busy enough for you?

🤣 😄 Thanks to the extended summer we've been having, I'm definitely still rocking my famous shorts, though usually after work, though as you can see, I still bring the funk even when shortless! I love my fake distressed meggings - I have several in different colours.

And how can it be too early to sport Christmas colours when I come as a pre-wrapped gift to any takers? ;) Ok, I'll stop, haha!

Oh I'm so glad it opened & they kept the brick & window seating from before 😊 Seems the fireplace was torn out though 😢 But maybe if it proves popular enough they'll bring that back 🍀🤞

There was a fireplace????

Kensington Kitchen - more of a Korean street food/snack bar than a cafe proper, but the coffee was surprisingly good. They have a selection of in-house made ice cream that looked interesting too. Not so much cozy, but great for people watching in the heart of the market.

And still no shorts! LOL

These pics makes me nostalgic. I miss my student days. Early 2000s, chilling at a cozy cafe with my friends, drinking coffee out of ceramic mugs, sitting on comfy chairs around the fireplace, surrounded by plants while Ani DiFranco music plays in the background.

So many cafes today are unwelcoming. Hardly any place to sit and all coffees are served in take out cups only and are usually all closed by the early evening. So it's Tim Hortons or Starbucks if you want coffee after 6 pm.

I don't have any photos, but Wildhearts Cafe in the Annex might fit the bill. Quite cozy, though the inside part is not very large. They bake croissants (from frozen, but whatever) throughout the day so it smells great. And it's open until 8:30 every day.

Went there twice this summer, so will be featured on this thread eventually. Very nice patio, but interior is too cramped to really be cozy.

I've only ever been there with the windows all opened up, so I've never seen the interior really. We did sit "inside" last time we were there, though. But I just wanted to mention it as one of the few legitimate cafe's open after 6.

Now & Later on Bloor near Dovercourt is also open late. It's a bit more bar-like after dark, but you'd never feel out of place with a coffee.
