Cabbagetown

There are several recent openings of nice establishments with varying levels of coziness such as Bluet, Bisou and Viet Bites. As well there is a bit of movement on Gerrard East with this food organization all driven by the new Regent Park building. ‘Gerrard East is the new Ossington!’ 🤣

I wonder what will replace the library location once it moves into Regent Park. Another residential tower? And is the Beer Store still moving into that new building on Gerrard?

I learned the hard way last night that the Beer Store just north of Winchester is closed until February 11th for renovations. I trekked through the freezing cold with a shopping cart of empties only to find it closed and ended up having to throw away $5.50 in empties before heading next door to the LCBO to buy my weeks supply of beer. The LCBO doesn't offer volume discounts, so I lost about another $10 on my bulk purchase. It was one of those nights when everything goes wrong. When I went to get cash out of my Banks ATM at Parliament and Church the card reader wasn't working so I had to get money from another bank across the street and pay a $4 service charge. All and all I was out about $20 on last night's shopping adventure in Cabbagetown.

We don't have enough Beer Stores in this area of downtown. I don't understand it. Hopefully The Beer Store will reopen at Gerrard and Ontario as was originally planned in the low-rise condo that has topped off and close to completion.

Looks like there was a meeting between the Cabbagetown South Residents Association and Option for Homes regarding the development of st. Lukes church.. 25 storeys seems a bit high for this location.

It's now up to 48-stories now. Apparently any concerns about tower height in downtown is out of step.

Opinion | How high is too high? Why Toronto’s beef with the size of residential towers misses the point
