Building the SKYDOME

Everyone: I remember attending Blue Jays games back in 1990 at the Rogers Skydome-that should have been its "naming rights" name. Yes-as was said the Skydome was built on land from CN. It was the last large ballpark to have artificial turf before it fell out of favor for use as a playing surface. I remember well those early days of record fan numbers for the Jays and who can forget those two World Series titles in '92 and'93-I will never forget that Joe Carter Home run in'93 to win it all. Stadiums today are built to allow a retractable roof-like Safeco Field in Seattle-to allow the use of natural grass. The Skydome was such an improvement over Exhibition Stadium-it was a temporary home at best. My two cents-LI MIKE
