Berlin's former Royal Palace

I think it would be a shame to lose this--really one of East Berlin's greatest hits. That whole area on the east side of the Spree is really unique--between the Fernsehturm, Palast and Alexanderplatz. We may think it ugly now, but stuff like that is tomorrow's museum--such great relics of the Socialist period in Germany, along with the other redeveloped parts of E Berlin (Karl Marx--née Stalin--Allee comes to mind).

Currently over at the Deutsches Architektur- und Bau-Forum there is a very lengthy and detailed thread on the fate of the Palast and the rebuilding of the Imperial Palace - with a poll of 86.71% (137) in favour of demolition and rebuilding and only 13.29% (21) in favour of saving the former East German socialist parliament.
