I arrive in Toronto on the 17th Aug so if anyone has or knows someone with a nice room to let for a year, i'd love to hear about it. Ideally i'm looking downtown, up to $700 a month.

Tartu? Depends how old you are--if you're under 25, you might like it, at least for a few months. Older then 25? Rent a room in an old Victorian home anywhere from the Annex to Little Italy--you'll love it and get to meet the locals better than staying in a shared condo.

I think your right with the Victorian home idea. I'm 30, and I've found a few places on craigslist that sound really nice and in nice areas around the Annex/Kensington Market. I'm gonna have to spend a lot of time in the coffee shops & bars in the neighbourhood talking to the locals - hopefully I won't become the token crazy brit in the area!

We provide affordable accommodation to York University, Seneca College, and International students. Our properties are located in York University Village within 3 minute walk from classrooms. All prices include fastest high-speed internet in Canada, cable TV, home phone, and utilities such as electricity, water, heating, and air conditioning.
Our prices are 25% less than York’s Undergraduate Residence fees. In addition, you are NOT required to pay Residence Life Activity and Admin Fee as well as $3000 – $4000 for Meal Plan which is a pre-requisite for acceptance into all York’s Undergraduate Residences.
Each of our properties has a shared kitchen with lots of cupboard space and has a fridge, stove, dishwasher, microwave, and water boiler. Each home also has a commercial laundry facility.
