Alliance MP wants homosexuality "outlawed"

He did not get fired for "discrimination" when it came to gays, he got fire for being stupid (extremely), offensive, etc. This issue split the Liberal party as well, should all those that do not agree with legalizing gay marriage be "fired" as well for "discriminatory behaviour". Then we will only have like-minded individuals and no debate.
you've got a point.

as for marriage being religious, you'd have a hard time convincing me of that. marriage has been around since people felt the need to mate for life. it's a custom that's just as old as the concept of a god. if marriage was ever religious by nature, then so was education, government, recreation, work....

as for incest, keeping the gene pool from getting messed up is in the public interest. so having children by way of incest will always be illegal. incest will never be legalized - how do you permit someone to have sex or get married but ban them from having children?

but poligamy... unfaithfulness is really common so who knows?

WTF... this thread is strange.. everything from incest to marriage to a dog. :\

Brighter Hell,

That is a double standard. If you disallow incest for fear of children being born with genetic defects, then how can you allow people who carry defective genes to reproduce? Should we institute forced sterilization on these people, to remove their defective genes from the genepool?

Its a rather sticky ethical issue.

Homosexuality was never outlawed in Canada, ever. The act of buggery was outlawed, not just between males, but between anyone not married.

Much as you can be hetrosexual without having "regular" sex, you can be homosexual without sodomizing anyone.

"The act of buggery was outlawed, not just between males, but between anyone not married."

Was 'buggery' legal between married individuals?

It was not stated to be illegal under legislation, so buggery between married couples was not covered, and thus not outlawed.

For heterosexual couples whose religion prohibits birth control buggery does the job nicely without committing the sin.

>For heterosexual couples whose religion prohibits birth control

BUZZZ!. The same reason that birth control is prohibited is the same reason why buggery would be prohibited.... simply put, the reason why birth control was not to be used is because sex was only to be done to procreate -- not for pleasure.
