I mentioned before that Omar had a meeting with Ford who then laughed him out of the room that Ontario was ever going to contribute to this.Nice to know that this is vapourware.

I see no hint of freight bypasses here. It seems to be about new GO corridors. Vaughan? Midtown? Peterborough? North Oshawa?I realize this passage from the Fall Economic Update (PDF) doesn't literally say "freight bypass" but since it's related to GO 2.0, latest update below. "Next steps" are being taken for GO 2.0. PDF page 98.

I think its still remarkable to even have this mentioned in an official document. I never would have imagined that Midtown and Bolton would actually be on the radar in my lifetime.Another interesting quote from the statement pg viii - Midtown Toronto and Bolton are mentioned. Not holding my breath lol

As opposed to Milton, the MacTier subdivision is a single track, which creates a higher risk of conflicts compared to the 2-3 tracks on the Milton Line (Galt Subdivision). Then there's the fact that where it meets the Kitchener corridor (Weston subdivision), the tracks are already sinking down to go under Church Street. And it's fairly presumptuous IMO that additional Bolton traffic would not create hiccups in the service pattern for GO, UPX and VIA trains.I mean relatively speaking GO to Bolton doesn't seem as complicated as say opening Midtown or MIlton 2WAD, if the goal is some limited rush hour trains. I for one would be the happiest man on earth if we got this. The Kitchener corridor would be used from Weston and Union, and for the most part there's double track between Weston and Steeles avenue. I imagine it's more difficult if CP asks MX to make sure that there's new trackage up to Bolton, since some bridges like the 407, hwy 7 bridges have no room or roughed in space for a second track, and there may not even be space in other areas.
But I would think the main thing holding back at least Richmond Hill like service is the provincial government, and I think CP would play ball if MX built the platforms and ran 3 trains in each direction. But then again, what do I know, I'm no insider lol
But then on that note I’d wager a Bolton Line by itself is easier than getting a bypass done and then doing it, because let’s be honest, the bypass is a bonkers project that doesn’t seem fathomable, as much as I’d love for it to happen. As opposed to Milton, the MacTier subdivision is a single track, which creates . Again, I'll tap the sign: this would be a hell of a lot easier with a true CN/CP bypass.
