Interesting -- I wonder if this will include a restaurant? Earls across the street seems to be pulling in plenty of money.

Well, where the concourse meets the subway at University Avenue also used to be an open court until about 20/25/whatever years ago...

145 KING ST W
To alter the existing 27-storey mixed-use building by reconstructing the commercial space on the ground floor to accommodate a larger frontage along University Avenue for the financial institution use (Scotiabank) and to accommodate a second eating establishment use (fronting King Street West). The total gross floor area of the financial institution use will be maintained and the existing commercial office space (fronting University Avenue) will be removed.

So they're gonna set up a streetscape-killing 1 storey glass enclosure housing another LCBO or something and get rid of precious open downtown landscape while butchering a clean, well-preserved example of 70s modernism? Sounds like Toronto.

Scotiabank is expanding its frontage within the existing building footprint along University. They'll be vacating a portion of the building along King to make space for a new restaurant. All of this to happen within the existing footprint. There will be a new patio in the open space though, which should help animate it much better than a bank branch.
