    Toronto 110 Eglinton East | 236.55m | 58s | Madison Group | Rafael Viñoly

Can you link to a staff report that is supporting the application and the proposal cause all i've seen is the applicant's planning report.

    Toronto 110 Eglinton East | 236.55m | 58s | Madison Group | Rafael Viñoly

Just because they had the workshops for the city doesnt mean that the city agreed to it. I have a hard time believing that the city agreed to building with no stepbacks with floor plates of over 1000m2 up to 31 & 38 storey's, and then Madison agreed to floorplates of only 500m2 for the...

    Toronto 110 Eglinton East | 236.55m | 58s | Madison Group | Rafael Viñoly

I'd be very surprised if Planning was involved in crafting this - there is so much against the tall buildings guidelines in this proposal that the pencil pushers would not be able to look beyond. Problem with the city is if it doesn't conform, it cant be supported, which is why everything looks...
  4. bro-arch

    Toronto 1414 Bayview | 30.85m | 8s | Gairloch | a—A

drove by this morning, and it looks even better in person. The thin brick with extended fin installation looks really good. So nice when every building isn't required to have balconies.

    Toronto ANX | 48.07m | 13s | Freed | Teeple Architects

This is turning out better than expected imo. The renders gave way to much room for the building to be badly executed, but so far this is very exciting, and it feels like its going to turn out better than the renders. #fingerscrossed
  6. bro-arch

    Toronto 350 Bloor East | 209.07m | 63s | Osmington Gerofsky | Hariri Pontarini

With office space becoming more obsolete, I think this is a good change to get more affordable units in across the city, and seeing this start as the precedent. 16 may not seem like much, but there are a number of projects that I'm going to guess are stalled in the meat grinder because the...
  7. bro-arch

    Toronto 1099 Broadview | 37.08m | 10s | Equiton

Hope this was a "just need to get something in" as they were working through a new design.
  8. bro-arch

    Toronto Ellie Condos | 105.76m | 31s | G Group | Kirkor

I dunno, besides the random angle on the office portion, i think this building has turned out pretty good. I like the wavy precast portion on the base and the large precast piece in the rear looks really good in real life. I may change my mind once the vertical pieces come in at the base, but...
  9. bro-arch

    Toronto 1117 Queen West | 102.4m | 29s | Queen Street Post Inc | Giannone Petricone

Yup. One of the tell tale signs is when there are random back and forth windows all the way up a facade. If it ends up looking anything like this it will have to be rationalized, or we are getting a sea of spandrel.
  10. bro-arch

    Toronto 101 Spadina Avenue | 133.95m | 39s | Devron Developments | AUDAX

I really hope they keep the depth of the precast details on this one. If they don't, it is going to become super flat, and the nuance of depth and details are going to become lost. I am not hopeful though, because the precast and brick goes all the way up, which unless its selling at luxury...
  11. bro-arch

    Toronto The Jasper | 23.25m | 7s | 211 Gerrard East Inc | COMN Architects

Love the proportions on this, and smart detailing around the windows to deal with terrace drops/soffits. Super clean proposal.

    Mississauga The Kith and Kindred Condominiums | ?m | 25s | Daniels | Kirkor

Anyone have any update pictures? Curious to see how its coming along, especially those big courtyards.

    Toronto 6080 Yonge Street | 53.8m | 14s | Tridel | DIALOG

    ??? I'm confused, isn't this DIALOGUE? https://www.toronto.ca/city-government/planning-development/application-details/?id=4973166&pid=395327&title=6080-YONGE-STREET-AND-11-HOMEWOOD-AVENUE Development application
  14. bro-arch

    Toronto 55C: 55 Charles Condos | 167m | 50s | MOD Developments | a—A

I think I may be in the minority here, but I think this turned out pretty well. I don't think pictures do the building or balconies justice, and the patterning looks really good in real life.
  15. bro-arch

    Toronto U of T: Schwartz Reisman Innovation Centre (Phase 1) | 64.8m | 13s | U of T | Weiss/Manfredi

I think that's the point though. Having them act like the void cut out space to really make the rest of it sing. I think if they tried to do more, it might have gotten busy and taken away from the rest
  16. bro-arch

    Toronto 15 Toronto Street | 205.93m | 53s | Madison Group | BDP Quadrangle

I love this rendering, but no way the materials will be as shown, unless BDP has figured out how to make fine stonework integrate into either window-wall or curtain-wall mullions. I hope the they spring for the columns as well to have that fine stonework reveals/fluting. All that said, I still...
  17. bro-arch

    Toronto 2079-2111 Yonge | 102.5m | 29s | Glen Corporation | Turner Fleischer

@Northern Light - I like the massing and the programming along the lane their introducing. I agree the massing is off along Yonge. The 2 storey's and then that bump out above make the proportions really odd. It kinda just looks like its a design, on top of a massing, on top of another massing...
  18. bro-arch

    Mississauga 185 Enfield | ?m | 35s | GWL | Kirkor Architects

curious to see how it comes together once the podium cladding gets added. I like how the tower is coming along and want to see the railings get added.
  19. bro-arch

    Toronto U of T: Schwartz Reisman Innovation Centre (Phase 1) | 64.8m | 13s | U of T | Weiss/Manfredi

Some do, but usually on smaller buildings that have terraces that store the davits when not in use, and are used at multiple location (there will be slots to insert along the roof). These particular ones looked fixed with the ability to rotate so they will always be there. Regardless, still a...
  20. bro-arch

    Toronto U of T: Schwartz Reisman Innovation Centre (Phase 1) | 64.8m | 13s | U of T | Weiss/Manfredi

I love how this turned out, my only complaint is I wish they went with a rail system for their window washing equipment instead of the davits. All those cranes at the top take away a bit from the profile.
