    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

I hope we're not stepping into the Capacity Minefield again! That wasn't my intention. I'm all for the proposed technology, having grown up in a city that's been well-served by a light weight metro system for the last 45 years. Where the vehicles were a direct copy of the German Stadtbahnwagen.

    Montréal Transit Developments

The Ontario Line trains are really high-floor LRTs / Stadtbahn vehicles. The Provincial Govt calls the line a Subway for it's own reasons.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

The summary of the HFR draft RfP included a requirement for a Financial Plan with a "Debt competition plan, financial structure and financial model." Not a conclusive statement that the project will be financed using debt (bonds?) but an indication that at least some of the money should be...

    Roads: GTA West Corridor—Highway 413

Project team has issued a survey on navigable waterways intersected by the 413’s route: https://www.highway413.ca/theenvironment-2/#NW Email from the project claims it’s been open for 30 days but they only sent out an email today, the final day.

407 Rail Freight Bypass/The Missing Link

From Google Streetview, it looks like the property is both sides of the CPKC line. Something like this:

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

I broadly agree with this ^^ routing but would argue for Line 4 to extend to either Woodbine, and either terminate there or continue into LBPIA. The GTAA identified that more folks travel to the airport and its commercial zone from north of the 401 (and east of the airport) than from downtown...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

If someone is feeling brave, Metrolinx is advertising for a Snr PM to "manage and monitor the revenue service demonstration activities" of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT: https://ca.linkedin.com/jobs/view/senior-project-manager-at-metrolinx-3945016690 I guess that means they feel it's getting...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Because of the consortium structure on Onxpress, it looks like we have engineers who've worked on the Spanish high speed lines rather than lines in Germany. I don't have any first hand experience of those lines but they operate a much higher speeds than we need for GO Expansion...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

It *could* mean that once the 2 months of rail grinding is complete, followed by some further inspection and testing, Metrolinx will formally accept the project and the TTC can start working towards opening. Ever the optimist.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

By varying the post-tensioned prestressing of a concrete segmental bridge, it’s possible to get a actual curved shape on-plan. With steel you need to have a series of straight sections at different angles, which requires additional piers and a wider cross section so the track is correctly curved.

The second image in this Instagram post shows 200 in the new GO Transit livery. Is that recent?

    Caledon-Vaughan GO Rail Line

The initial design had platforms on all 4 Kitchener Line tracks but the current design has one island platform between the 2 stopping pattern tracks.

Cycling: West Toronto Railpath (City of Toronto, Phase II Proposed)

It's likely for the north-end of the 4th Track installation on the Kitchener Line. Track installation seems to be preceded by noise wall installation, which would be a safety hazard, next to the path.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

I find in Ontario that there's a "in-practice speed limit" - the speed you can drive without being stopped by the OPP that's higher than the posted limits. This seems to be 120 km/h on a 100-limit 3-lane 400-series and 110 km/h on 2-lane 400-series highways. Not sure what the in-practice limit...
