Toronto has the worst average commute in the world

There is also a huge diff between moving people around and moving people around efficiently. Which I have been trying to say from when you said, oh Toronto is fine its system carries a lot of people and yet everyone in this forum says that we need to do this we need to build that. The DRL is not...

Toronto has the worst average commute in the world

So what if you went to those places. I went there too, and rode those forms of transit .I don't think you can compare the "giants" (namely Hong Kong,Tokyo,Paris,Shanghai,Seoul) in transit to Toronto because after going to those places, I end up finding Toronto lacking in both fronts of...

Ontario Budget Cut and Transit Expansion

well these developers tend to build commuter metro, commuter rail, or s-bahn-like lines which has a significantly lower cost per/km to construct. Coupled with the increase in land value and guaranteed ridership it would not be surprising if they managed to fund the construction of the whole line...

    Move Toronto: The SOS Plan

It would be better to route them to martin grove because they can use the Eglington semi-highway though the interchange. Plus Martin Grove has lots of terminal space via the Richview ROW. If we used dixion/ 27 station as the terminal buses will have to navigate the interchange instead of plowing...

Toronto has the worst average commute in the world

I never said there is a need for highways downtown. The fact that the TTC carries a lot of people doesn't mean anything. The Beijing Subway is the fifth busiest in the world yet if you went there good transit is the last thing you would think of. That is the reason why they are simultaneously...

Rob Ford wants subways, not streetcars

what do you mean own it or not? The TTC is not buying anything, its just selling the rights over what it already has. Air and a blue sky will not give you money.

Toronto has the worst average commute in the world

No i am saying, that Toronto transit system FAILS to serve the needs of the city. So what if the carries so and so amount of people it still FAILS to serve the needs of our city. Also its expressway network FAILS to serve the city's traffic and it FAILS to be effective, should I go on? I used...

Rob Ford wants subways, not streetcars

say what you want about air rights but I personally think selling them is a great idea. Sure it is not a lot of money to be made but it is certainly better than getting nothing. Plus, they are paying you to put a trip generator on the roof of your subway station. i think it is a win-win.

    Monorail for Toronto

well, also look at the Vaughan extension the whole thing is underground. Even though passed Steeles is farmland. the SLRT extension really should be elevated but NIMBY's always manages to rear its ugly head in. Even if transit expansion is not driven by politics. it would still be by NIMBYism...

    On track for high speed

many things regressed in north america because of the car. LA used to have one of the largest electric interurban streetcar network in the world, look what it is now? the only city that survived the tram shut down is Toronto and a handful of other systems. On the other hand some cities upgraded...

no, not really I remember one time in Hong Kong someone got run over by a an SP 1900 series train and even though the train had a skirt all around the car body it didn't stop him from getting spliced in half by the wheel. Really it's just for looks. Anyways if we drop the skirt any lower the...

    Monorail for Toronto

not really built around the world as you claim to be as you can see: in Japan, the land of monorails that work, the most recent one was built in naha in 2003, not really rapid in propagation. Delhi and Mumbai are building 10 times more kilometers in standard metro technology lines so which is...

Toronto has the worst average commute in the world

well LA has lots of highways to move lots of people quickly and New York has lots of subways to move lots of people quickly but Toronto has neither. Plus, LACMATA has some new LRT/pre-metro lines that totally creams transit city, even if the provincial government did not cut funding to transit...
