    TTC: Streetcar Network

When I lived in the Mount Pleasant and Davisville area there were still bits of track starting to emerge from the asphalt along Mount Pleasant, the old Moore Park Loop and St. Clair Avenue East. I wonder if that track was rebuilt sometime between 1966 and abandonment in 1976. I definitely recall...

    Toronto The One | 328.4m | 91s | Mizrahi Developments | Foster + Partners

The actual intersection is...ok...a bit dodgy at times, but ok. Down at Charles is rougher due to Sanctuary and its denizens. I actually find Bloor and Spadina worse. Now, if you want "stabby", I have a friend who works up the street at Toronto Reference who can tell you some stories.

    25 The Esplanade

Fantastic thread, would like to see similar for other major buildings of note (Manulife, etc.). Buddy of mine has an ex who still lives at 25, can confirm it's a great building (the sunrooms in many units are phenomenal). Not shown is the amenity terrace that has built-in barbecues and...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I remember that strike, and my father - he was near the top of the seniority list at the time - telling his union steward and route supervisor to go fuck themselves, he wasn't going to stop his bus at 12:01am and leave old people and women stranded by the side of the street at night.

Dundas West/ Bloor Mobility Hub +interconnected hub network (Metrolinx)

It was contemporaneous with other - in my opinion, better - examples: Manulife Centre, Yonge-Eglinton Centre and the Yonge-Sheppard Centre.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

That's from power-washing graffiti. That entrance is a constant target and I've seen the BIA's contractors with power-washers clean it regularly during my walks. They clean other street furniture in the area as well on a regular basis.

    Train Spotting

Interesting, shame about that steam loco being left to rot and be vandalized. I also did not think there was any intact TEE equipment left anywhere, even if it isn't on rails. I also wonder if that F-unit can be restored and run as a heritage locomotive when the Northlander returns.

    Ontario Legislative Building Restoration

There isn't much they can do on the east side of the site: there's a tunnel that runs from the Whitney Block under Queen's Park Crescent East to the main building, and as I recall there is an entire basement level that has (or had), numerous services: a cafeteria, a couple of shops and I vaguely...

    Ontario Legislative Building Restoration

Part of it, mostly collections. Cataloguing, acquisition and other back-end work takes place partially in the Whitney Block, or at least it used to when I worked there.

    Will never happen.

    Toronto Media Landscape and Personalities

I can tell you they are, but for now are being very quiet about it. Buyouts first to the greatest extent possible. I'm hearing numbers comparable to Bell's. I should also mention that numerous Bay Street law firms are going through headcount reductions and hiring freezes, for now mostly on the...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

That's my old church and elementary school the LRT is passing by (St. Wilfrid's). The adjectives are inaccurate, if not pejorative.

Looking at that picture of the viaduct reminds me that I just finished a fine history of the effort to construct the Luminous Veil: The Suicide Magnet, by Paul McLaughlin, Dundurn Press: https://www.dundurn.com/books_/t22117/a9781459751408-the-suicide-magnet

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

Bay Street law is currently three days minimum for most large firms, at least four for students/lawyers and management and I'm hearing rumours of four-five day weeks for clerks and assistants.

    Bad Boy Furniture Bankruptcy

Correct, the location on Finch West near Keele remained open through the first bankruptcy, the same store my parents bought furniture from when they first arrived in this country in 1971.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

It's full of stars, and Presto machines! I think I'm finally seeing Metrolinx's logic here.

I definitely recall the Mike in TO and Mr. Man development scoops, some of those threads are still active.

    UrbanToronto is Celebrating 20 Years

I see that my infamous ROM rant still exists, and I wouldn't change a word. (I'm pretty certain I joined the original board around...2004-ish?)

Toronto Manulife Centre Podium and Streetscape Renewal | 9.75m | 2s | Manulife Real Estate | MdeAS Architects

I was told by the leasing agent that all vacant units are being upgraded to, quote, "condo standards". Which means I'm staying put in my unit...
