Cycling: West Toronto Railpath (City of Toronto, Phase II Proposed)

The cost escalation is unconscionable, but so is the timeline creep. From the Star article linked upthread: This project seems to be perpetually a year or two away from construction. Back in 2010, there was hope that the railpath extension could be open for the Pan Am games in 2015. In 2016...

Cycling: West Toronto Railpath (City of Toronto, Phase II Proposed)

I think this is a separate bridge rehab project. The new bridges for the railpath extension will be over the Barrie Line, Lansdowne, and Brock, and they'll be brand new and purpose built.

Cycling: West Toronto Railpath (City of Toronto, Phase II Proposed)

Correct. The connection to Wabash is not funded, but the bridge landing is designed to accommodate a future connection.

Toronto GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I guess this means they're not regrading Wallace. I thought I saw some drawings earlier that showed it going down by ~0.5m? Also I saw they re-poured the sidewalks on both sides adjacent to the greenway but didn't add curb cuts. What are people using the greenway with bikes or strollers...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Oh, come on. This is an absurd position to take. Are you unaware that someone just died because of an obstructed bike lane, or do you just not care?

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Whether or not it was permitted, it was clearly unsafe.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

I think you need to take a break from the cycling thread. This is unhelpful.

Curbs have finally been installed under the Bloor Kitchener Line rail bridge: Unfortunately there is still a flex-post section for reasons detailed here:

    Toronto Ridiculous NIMBYism thread

This is truly one for the ages. We've got the tone of panic. We've got unnecessary! exclamation!! marks!!! We've got a vague slogan: "Preserve our community" (apparently their community is a parking lot?). And of course we've got no mention of what might replace the parking lot. Surely they...

    Toronto West Don Lands: Block 13 | 139.31m | 43s | Dream | Henriquez Partners

Seems safe to say that the city's planner on the file is one person who has the power to shape this project: Planner: Katherine Bailey Telephone: 416-397-1761 Email: Katherine.Bailey@toronto.ca I have no evidence that this person specifically is responsible for the greyification, so please...

I think the aluminum fins look fantastic, but to each their own.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Well at the very least there probably needs to be a connection between the existing cycling network and the upcoming Etobicoke Civic Centre and all the density coming soon to the area.

What's your suggestion for a better safe east-west cycling route?

Movie Theatres in Toronto - Old and New

Commercial leases are bizarre. Imagine if a residential landlord expected you to renovate the house they own on top of paying rent?

    Toronto West Don Lands: Block 13 | 139.31m | 43s | Dream | Henriquez Partners

Yikes. I do like the continuation of the arc facing the park, and the height and massing seem fine. It's extremely disappointing that this has gone back to being monochrome, and it feels like all the fun and whimsy is gone.
