TTC: Lower Bay Station (closed to public)

Surprised there was no train parked there to stop someone from falling off the platform in the dark.

TTC: Electric and alternative fuel buses

This is some really neat insight. I guess BYD was there at the right time with the right product. Will be interesting to see how all the electric buses fair over time over there. My fear here is getting too many at once and then having teething issues that impact service. I definitely think we...

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

The VIA concourse already has GO Transit departure screens. I don't think you gain much by combining them since VIA boards at only one spot in the station. If you're waiting in the York or Bay concourse, you very likely have no need for know VIA departures.

York side, including the food court, is flooded too.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Part of the PATH and Bay concourse connection to the subway is flooded too.

TTC: Electric and alternative fuel buses

BYD also has an artic, but the experience with those seem mixed at best. Los Angeles bought some of them four years ago and only now are they apparently going into service

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

The T1s actually received a bit of a refresh a few years ago. They also received LED interior lighting.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

The TRs are starting to show their age a bit. I’m surprised they haven’t gotten a bit of a refresh like the LFLRVs. New seat inserts and thoroughly cleaned or new light diffusers would go a long way.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

The nine will presumably be kept in Toronto. The rest will be taken by Detroit.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

The TTC has selected two 8000-series Orions to be set aside for preservation. In addition, nine SRT cars will be set aside. I don’t think all are for historical preservation. My thinking is some of them will be repurposed like Montreal’s MR-63s.

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

From someone who worked at the Thunder Bay facility: https://cptdb.ca/topic/4666-go-transit/?do=findComment&comment=687029 It’s not uncommon for vehicles to be delivered out of order. Happens all the time with buses.

    Durham Region Transit / Pulse

First battery-electric bus has been delivered to DRT. It’s based out of Oshawa and DRT plans to use them on the 900. Not much different visually between the electric buses and new diesel buses coming in. The electric buses do not have flush-mounted windows. Presumably the reasoning is less glass...

    Durham Region Transit / Pulse

I haven’t experienced this. Maybe I’m too heavy (lol). Though I’m surprised those two seats across from the rear door got approved. Vinyl or fabric, a hard stop looks to be dangerous for anyone sitting there. I agree. It would be nice to have fabric seats again and I hope the TTC keeps them...
  14. APTA-2048

    Durham Region Transit / Pulse

I’m curious how you feel about vinyl transit seats. In DRT’s case, their previous batch had vinyl seats, but there is no padding. So not much different in comfort. They also chose grey, which looked a little bland. Lack of forward facing seats was also annoying. I’m glad they changed that on the...

    Durham Region Transit / Pulse

Looks like DRT has joined some of the other GTA transit authorities and ordered plastic seats on their new buses. I’m not too keen on them as I think they degrade the passenger experience, and we should strive to have nice things in our public infrastructure like in other cities. But I don’t...

Metrolinx has been using this pink for all their subway construction signage. For example at McCowan and Sheppard.

    Ontario Science Centre

I really miss the fountain. It’s a shame it fell into disrepair in the 90s.
