Toronto non-mall retail (Odds & Ends)

Sounds like Shinola is replacing Stussy and Sam James in the building at 1000 Queen W. Cool, but I hope Stussy relocates.

Both Judy and Wilmot also come from historic, wealthy Toronto families. Noblesse oblige has done a great deal for this city, there's nothing wrong with that.

The design of the new Simeone shop at 92 Scollard in Yorkville shares some similarities to this, albeit on a small scale. Really wonderful.

The colour of the horizontal elements is also much less peachy than on the first building. This cladding is so far a definite improvement.

Where on the building has that cladding been installed?

Ah okay, this makes sense then. Thanks for clearing that up!

Not sure how to interpret this- but it seems as though all of the retail at the condos at 80 and 100 Yorkville- Teatro Verde, Diesel, and Anthropologie- will be moving to Yorkville Village? Thereby further freeing up significant space for other, more high-end retailers...

    Toronto Velocity at the Square | 122.52m | 40s | HNR | P + S / IBI

From what I can tell, the glazing that has been installed so far on the south facade is almost entirely a weird brown/copper spandrel, with little cutouts for windows. This has only been installed on the first floor or so above the Mirvish Theatre. As it becomes easier to view, I'll post a...

They are also much more...uhhh...salmon hued than they appear in the photo I took. Not cute.

Holwood's reflection on the glass of the expansion's north facade is just wonderful!

Those conceptual renderings a number of posts back seem to suggest that the hotel would become a Langham, the Eaton's luxurious sibling brand. This might explain the fewer hotel rooms allocated in the plan. One would also hope that it would demand some more refined architecture and execution in...

Well, you raise a good point. That Massey Tower retail sure would lend itself well to an Apple Store- but again, we'd be waiting for a number of years. Maybe a shop at Bloor/Yonge in the coming months, and another further down Yonge at Massey Tower upon its completion?

    Old City Hall Proposals

Don't speak for me, please. And we've got plenty of fantastic "stuff to show". This is the perfect place and time for a City Museum.

Hmm, intriguing. If not Apple and not Uniqlo, I wonder what flagship retailer it will be. An as of yet unannounced new arrival to Toronto/Canada? I wonder how the atrium streetfront will be configured to market the inner Uniqlo.

    Toronto Eaton Centre

Right, but I think MetroMan was writing specifically about the easternmost of the spaces north of Nordstrom. Since he believes it won't be Apple, I'm pointing out that it's quite likely that it will be Uniqlo, with potential for the westernmost space to be taken by Apple (no true street...

Breitling is open at 250 Bloor St. East. Oddly inconspicuous branding for such an inconspicuous site.
