Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

The elevated road or number of lanes is not really the thing that cause traffic or a bad public realm experience. It's the ramps. A wide boulevard with normal intersections would be vastly superior to the car sewer of on-ramps and turning lanes we have now. No amount of public art of basketball...

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

This accounting fails to consider the value of the land that would be freed up as well as the property taxes that land would generate in perpetuity. Not to mention the massive improvement to the public realm we would gain. That's what you're paying for. Quibbling over sunk costs on the big ugly...

    Toronto East Harbour Transit Hub | 14.35m | 1s | Metrolinx | Metrolinx

Have there been any updates to the East Harbour Transit Hub design? Any docs/drawings released along with the other Ontario Line stations? Feel like it's been a while since we've seen anything on the station itself.

this is one more reason why they should build a movie theatre at dufferin mall

I don't mind if they keep the garage itself, but they should close the entrance/exit ramps on Queen Street, especially the one on the south side in front of the Sheridan. Redundant and a huge waste of prime sidewalk space.

    Toronto 22 Metropolitan | 157.55m | 48s | Sunray Group | ZO1

This "complete community" will be a horrible place to live. Surrounded by industrial uses and auto infrastructure, residents will be trapped in this tiny bubble without a car. Not a smart place to build residential. The city needs to make some long-term strategic decisions about what employment...

    Toronto 1181 Queen Street West | 54.45m | 15s | Skale | BDP Quadrangle

The glass wall looks well executed but I think it's a shame they didn't bring the brick all the way down to the ground level. Not the most inviting streetscape. An unfortunate flaw in an otherwise impressive building.

Toronto GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Maybe if they painted the bridge a nice colour instead of leaving it as a drab depressing grey, people would feel less inclined to tag it.

I love this! I think the city and council should push developers to provide public bathroom facilities accessible from the street or lobby as well.

    Toronto Ontario Place | ?m | ?s | Infrastructure ON

You point is well taken. The philosophy of public vs private use is certainly not being equally applied by some of the absolutists, and there is a similar dereliction of care when it comes to Exhibition Place's assets that we saw with Ontario Place pre-2012 (although I'd quibble with the...

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

People on here still don't understand or believe in Induced Demand, eh?

A perfect opportunity to save some money see what would happen if we don't rebuild. Instead of wasting money maintaining a section we're gonna tear down in a few years, just close this section and let the drivers figure out other routes. Call it a pilot project!

I would be happy for them to build as tall as they like if they were to expand the park at the south end of the site. Would be a great place for some seating and shade. Maybe a patio?

It's actually a Nestle factory and I hope they continue to operate forever, the chocolate smells so insanely good.

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

Some of the "traffic" would evaporate because some of those drivers could now live in a building where an on-ramp used to be and so they can walk to work in the core. The assumption that the traffic pressure is fixed is incorrect, in my view. It's just not a metric I think we should be concerned...

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

I don't expect that the other routes would be "unscathed." I also don't care that it would be "a zoo." People will adjust their behaviour to the new reality. If the area where the expressway is now was replaced with pedestrian friendly streets and more dense housing and retail, schools, etc. it...

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

Tear the whole thing down from the Ex to the DVP, I don't really care what happens to "traffic." To me, it's a simple question of priorities. Being able to drive across downtown quickly is just not as important as building a beautiful, pedestrian-friendly public realm and as much housing as...

Dundas West/ Bloor Mobility Hub +interconnected hub network (Metrolinx)

Does anyone know if they ever considered a connection at the mezzanine level for passengers arriving at Dundas West from the streetcars or buses who want to transfer to GO/UPX a vice versa? It always seemed strange to me that you'd have to walk all the way down to the subway platform level and...

    Toronto Ontario Place | ?m | ?s | Infrastructure ON

Conceptually I agree that Exhibition Place and Ontario Place should be amalgamated and revitalized into a cohesive whole, but there are some issues with the details here. I appreciate how they tried to create a better street grid but the designers have chopped a few thousand seats off the east...
