    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

This shouldn't be an issue for the TTC. "Low performing Bus Routes" means daily ridership levels below 100-200 passengers per day. I don't think there are any conventional bus routes aside from the 176 that fit this criterion. The171, and 99 only really exist to provide access to the garages...

    Hamilton Hamilton Line B LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

19 km is the total distance where the 1-way sections are counted twice, 16 km is the distance where the one-way sections are not double-counted. I've made the mistake before.

    Hamilton Hamilton Line B LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Some people have argued that the EU trade commission and German anti-competition clauses will force bombardier to sell off some redundant designs, so it is very well possible that Alstom won't get the Flexity since it has the Citadis.

    Montréal Transit Developments

Because the government and the private sector are completely different. I'd rather know the worst-case scenario and be impressed by the outcome than overly hyped for the best-case scenario and end up with a Chestnut Hill SEPTA regional Rail service in the end. Also, why bother saying "5...

    Hamilton Hamilton Line B LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

16 km. While signal priority is cheap, there's no grade separation so it's barely more expensive than installing new traffic lights. As a result, frequencies, capacity, and speeds suffer. Waterloo's system only requires 15 trains, Hamilton's will probably require double that, and the...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

The only 2 stations underperforming are 407 and Downsview Park (Finch West and PV have the same ridership). VMC is definitely overperforming (expectations were that the two stations combined would get 3K PPD, VMC is getting closer to 15K since the last count, likely more before COVID). Even...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

For VMC, definitely. 407 is actually mainly GO bus riders and, surprisingly, pedestrians. People going to the industrial areas along Exchange/Peeler or to the businesses at Peeler and Jane. 2018 numbers for the station, prior to full GO Bus integration: VMC — 14,790 407 — 3,440 So they were...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Let's be fair to Vaughan, that station has shattered all expectations. Considering the TTC was only projecting about 3K passengers per day for 407 and VMC combined, it's really a miracle ridership is closer to 20K PPD. Should it have ended at PV? Probably, but hell, York Region paid for it, that...

Or it's been very effective and we're now seeing the results of our investments.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Perhaps it can't, but I'm sure glad we built the subway out in the following locations (all within the last 50 years): The Yonge Subway north of Eglinton — 300K PPD The Spadina Subway (to Sheppard West) — 200K PPD Kipling station — 50K PPD Kennedy Station and the SRT — 80K PPD Line 4 — 50K PPD...

Roads: Ambassador & Gordie Howe Bridges

Oh come on, that bridge is an icon for the area. It should be restored and put to better use (passenger car traffic only, bike/walking traffic perhaps?)

Roads: Highway 7 North Kitchener-Guelph New Freeway Build

Waterloo region has a plan to combat sprawl, so that's not happening any time soon. Guelph will sprawl regardless of whether this freeway is built or not. It's a connection. There is pretty much no redundancy along this corridor, and competitive GO improvements aren't coming any time soon...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

    1. The same reason we can't seem to have a Kitchener-Aberfoyle, a Kitchener-Downtown Toronto or Kitchener-Hamilton bus; because the coach companies have corridor rights. 2. It would be a barely used service 3. There are like 2 communities outside of Guelph between Georgetown and Kitchener —...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Here's the flaw with that argument: assuming that an extension to an existing line has to fill up before it reaches the existing line. No normally operating subway ever operates at filled capacities in the outskirts of a system, ever. It picks up passengers as it goes along its route, only...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

It's definitely not an ideal location for a bus loop, but assuming it was actually on Lawrence, running a bus through the loop wouldn't have been that big of a drain on trip times, and would have improved the commute for most users.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

I'm actually disappointed that not all Lawrence buses will serve the terminal. Perhaps the westbound lanes will have an entrance similar to that of Finch West. It's really nice to see frequency increases on some of these routes though.

    Capital meaning new infrastructure.

    Ottawa Transit Developments

But that's not the same, wheel lifespan should exceed 6 months, and cracks this early on are unprecedented. I suspect Alstom or the wheel subcontractor didn't do their homework on Ottawa's climate when they engineered the bogies. That is negligence. Every single megaproject project gets insane...

I have yet to think of another major capital LRT project as botched as the Ottawa LRT anywhere.
