    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Nobody ever believed that — most people probably weren't paying attention because that project has gone nowhere.

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I mean it's in quite a suburban area. The stop spacing is comparable to the TYSSE, Yonge subway through North York, and the sheppard subway To me it seems fairly reasonable. Should it have been tunneled? That's a different question.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Of course they're not, but it would be foolish to not believe that every contractor, contract adminster, contracting authority, etc would do away with environmental concerns if they had the ability to. My point was that the MTO is generally less suceptible to scrutiny (especially on extensions...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

That's because we blast highways through the middle of nowhere. Environmental protocols are just as rigorous, they just aren't in the way of most people. Freeway expansions are done along existing corridors, most of which is already owned by the MTO.

    YRT/Viva Construction Thread (Rapidways, Terminals)

    Except this actually happens, at a lot of locations: 1. Islington/Kipling Station: MiWay/MiExpress --> TTC 2. Sheppard West Station: YRT -->TTC (Route 105) 3. Wilson Station: YRT --> TTC (160) 4. Finch Station: YRT --> TTC (BLUE, 2, 5, 23, 77, 88, 91, 98, 99, 300, 301, 302, 303, 304, 305) 5...

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

Significant time usually means an additional 2-3 minutes with the added benefits of: 1. Centralized transit operations (easy of wayfinding) (Do not confuse this with a centralized transit network, those are completely different things) 2. Ease of transferring (Saving probably 3-5 minutes...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Friday C — The answer is cost and ease of construction. No one wants to bring a drill rig out there to install secant piles. What other options are there? Not installing the 4th track?

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

I don't know how many times I have to argue this, but a grid system still requires convenient and easy connection points (see the TTC), something the current network really lacks. If you're going to make people transfer, you have to make it convenient. You can still divert a bus route to serve...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Its Surface transit definitely has dropped, at least downtown. I don't believe said statistic includes the regions of York, North York, Scarborough, Etobicoke, and East York — they just include old toronto's. It's also worth noting that the 80s were definitely not Peak TTC.

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

It shouldn't be for intercity buses only. It's a central transit centre. It should serve all buses that serve the GO station. The other two were more of a criticism of the video rendering itself and how it doesn't show this.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

150M Passengers per year ~ 500K per day. Look how far we've come, now the Yonge line gets more than that daily (prior to covid).

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

The problem with the TYSSE was that 2 stations were built for future developments: 407 for Vaughan developments and the 407 transitway, and Downsview Park for RER. I've made this argument before elsewhere, but given the longer time associated with waiting for GO Transit (whether it be a bus or...

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

My apologies, I was mainly referring to the cleanliness of the platforms being less of an issue at GCT. My comment for Union Station was mainly in reference to how things are handled today - Almost everyone waits in the concourse. Whether that will change is something only time will tell, but my...

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

    1. The obligatory "That bus terminal is too damn small" 2. How are people supposed to get to the SB iON trains? 3. How are people supposed to get to the North GO Platform? 4. Shops? Seriously, none?

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

Grand Central is a bit different from Union though, trains are usually waiting for passengers 15-20 minutes before departure since it's a terminus. This is not similar to Penn or Union, where a train might only be waiting for 5 minutes or less.

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

Depends on the economic activity of NYC. Penn Station Access will offset most of the difference made by East Side Access Grand Central is a terminus station, not a through station like Penn. Also, the LIRR and NJT see higher ridership levels than MNRR They'll never finish it. They will...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

True, but it's generally a drop in the bucket from a cost perspective. The main issues with finishings is that they take time to complete, and no one wants to wait to ride their train.

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

You should likely blame COVID, foundation work, and concrete curing times. That being said, most of the work should have been done years ago.
