    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

What would be hilarious about it? That is exactly what they are going to do, and this has been known for years.

TTC: Electric and alternative fuel buses

Nitpick: The hybrid orders were only converted to diesel after we already had 700 of the things running around here, it wasn't just a "few" units. But yes, I share your skepticism. The TTC is historically known to enthusiastically bet on the wrong new technologies (CNG, hybrids). Maybe it will...

    PM Justin Trudeau's Canada

And yet, despite being fairly well informed politically, I have never heard the phrase. Maybe politicians should stick to using actual words rather than cutesy highly specific neologisms that will be understood by an extremely fringe portion of the population to show how in touch they are with...

    Metrolinx: Other Items (catch all)

I preferred Triplinx too. It was nice to be able to email yourself an itinerary and I felt psychologically more comfortable using an official tool with transit data, rather than 3rd party. But then, I come from Slovakia, whose capital city didn't have any Google Maps transit data until about 4...

    PM Justin Trudeau's Canada

Vibes is a real word, yes. Vibecession is not, and I have no idea what phenomenon it is supposed to be referring to. The country's problem isn't that the vibes are off. It's that we have these ridiculous, of touch corporate ghouls in charge who have no idea what real people actually want out of...

    PM Justin Trudeau's Canada

They're not speaking the language of young voters, they're shamelessly trying to show them that they're cool and in touch. Remember Hillary Clinton's "Pokemon GO to the polls"? Or this? Yeah, we don't need more of that. Perhaps if the democrats had put forward serious politicians instead of...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

It was said further upthread that the sign was programmed in the subway style, not the legacy network style. On shared corridors I agree, but once clear of said corridor I think there is something to be said for discarding superfluous information. Once along the parts of the 505 that are not...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

The front signs on the Crosstown Flexitys appear to be more or less the same width as that of the cars on the downtown network - there is no way "Line 5 to Kennedy" is going to fit on those unless the font chosen is obscenely small, in which case they might as well have gone ahead and done the...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Same as 503 Victoria Park vs 24 Victoria Park. Or someone reading a 510 King short turn sign and wondering what's up with all of that. I'm not a fan of including the word "line" in any display, because it means that the actual pertinent information now has to be written smaller, or the panel...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I have never understood why the TTC feels the need to specify that a rapid transit service is a "line" on the destination signs. Especially on the subway, I believe it's the "Line 1 to Vaughan" exposure that doesn't fully fit so it has to scroll. For 40 years we had "501 Neville Park", can we go...

299 Queen Street West (Bell Media Studios)

I am relieved that the truck will survive, as I believe there was a notion that it would be taken down once CP24 vacated the building. It's one of those things that give a city idiosyncrasy and flavour, so this is fantastic news.

    Mayor Olivia Chow's Toronto

That's a fine thing for a police force to outright say that no one actually needs to follow the new rules. Glad Toronto is not alone in having an absolutely useless police force.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Better to have the parts and not need them, than to need them and not have them. Especially when it comes to cosmetic parts. PCC 4000 is kept under lock and key because they're afraid a vandal would steal parts from it there was free access given to it.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

3026-27 went to Halton. As far as I know the plan is to harvest one of parts and scrap it and keep the other.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I don't view buying back the F59s as value engineering. That's just good sense in my book. Why pay full price for a new loco when you can buy a much cheaper one and refurbish it and still attain your planned end goal?

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

What is meant by shifting the tracks from Queens Quay to Fort York? I have no idea what this proposal entails. Surely we are not advocating to remove service west of Spadina?

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

Not the main takeaway here, but I have to ask... from where did the word teamway spring from? I can't find anything on any dictionary I can think of that shows this to be a real word. If I wasn't already a transit buff I would have no idea what you guys are talking about. Is this another Toronto...

TTC: Scarborough Busway Construction (portion of the former Scarborough RT route)

The schedule from Kipling shows the combined frequency of the 45A and 45B branches and doesn't give a true picture of conditions along either branch - hence, my previous post. If you need to go to points south of Belfield you're fine. Doubly so if you need to get somewhere along the express...

TTC: Scarborough Busway Construction (portion of the former Scarborough RT route)

On the combined corridor south of Belfield. But north of there it runs every 20 (!) minutes during rush hour.
