    Toronto Crosstown LRT: Eglinton Station | ?m | 1s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Are there any rumours about this line ever opening or are we more or less done now that the intersection has been (mostly) finished?
  2. The Preservationist

    Toronto 576 Sherbourne | 235.2m | 69s | Alterra | Arcadis

I think the time is now, seems the market is driving towards very tall point towers filled with unlivible micro apartments that single people can't afford. Perhaps land in the downtown is overvalued...

    Toronto Rail Deck Development | 239.43m | 72s | LIUNA | Sweeny &Co

Honestly the real tragedy here is in the early 1970s the waterfront was mostly parking lots and a few warehouses. What should have happened is the first 100m from the lakeshore should have been parkland with progressively taller buildings moving away from the lake. Paying hundreds of millions...

    Thank you for sharing this.

    Toronto Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners

That's some fairly heavy duty rebar for residential construction...

    Toronto Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners

Fully agree if they restored the original brick this would be very positive for the district, however we are getting another Gehry design. I'll wait and see how the first tower is executed and then pass armchair judgement...

    Toronto Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners

I'll think we will all be better off if the market becomes more end user focused, even if it means less development for a few years.
  8. The Preservationist

    Toronto 400 King West | 157.37m | 48s | Plaza | BDP Quadrangle

That's fairly realistic colour and placement variance for brick pattern precast. Can't wait to see it installed...

    Toronto KING Toronto | 57.6m | 16s | Westbank | Bjarke Ingels Group

I expect King's wooden cousin in Stockholm will be a maintenance nightmare in 20 years. Stained wood is great for exterior accenting, particularly if not exposed to direct sunlight, but not a good long term cladding solution. I agree currently it looks very good.

The Great Hall and surrounding structure is in my opinion one of the greatest examples of mid century modernist architecture this planet has to offer. I'm saddened that it will not be available for future generations.

    Toronto 350 Bloor East | 209.07m | 63s | Osmington Gerofsky | Hariri Pontarini

I would agree with all points but would lean on GTA population growth as being the predominant factor. There were times during the 70s, 80s and 90s where there was significant office space overcapacity, and nobody could even predict when or if there would be shovels in the ground again. I...

    Toronto Pinnacle One Yonge Commercial | 170.8m | 40s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

I think I was more upset the last time they demolished the Toronto Star Building. It really hadn't been in existence that long and was an art deco classic.

    Toronto Pinnacle One Yonge Commercial | 170.8m | 40s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

I'm also concerned with the waste created from a 25 storey demolition, and the over abundance of high rise condos south of the Gardiner. A residential, commercial, retail, entertainment, cultural, parks and recreation mix is what this city needs...

    Toronto Pinnacle One Yonge | 345.5m | 105s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

I imagine those who bought a high floor unit with a lake view at a premium in their current buildings would be a little concerned this morning. Edit: For current buildings I'm referring to currently built phase 1 and under construction phase 2 condo buildings.

    Toronto Theatre District Residence & Riu Plaza Hotel | 156.05m | 49s | Plaza | BDP Quadrangle

In some ways odd, however I would say they've been given enough space to stand eloquently by themselves. The brickwork of the new surrounding buildings doesn't match, but just by being brick introduces in my opinion enough of a setting to make the whole arrangement work. Finally livable...

    Toronto Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners

Hi Red Mars, appreciate your facial blurring of close up construction workers if consent isn't given. Very professional.

    Toronto Pinnacle One Yonge Commercial | 170.8m | 40s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

While office space demand is bleak for the intermediate future, we've been here before in the 80s and 90s, and look what has happened since. Sure, less of the population commutes to brick and motor office buildings, but whatever the reason, the GTA population growth has always absorbed capacity...
  18. The Preservationist

    Toronto 50 Eglinton West | 169.03m | 49s | Madison Group | AUDAX

I'm liking the contrast between the dark towers and light and not overly sized podium.
