The former Imperial Oil Site is now subject to a redevelopment plan. Announced today, the draft plan envisions a community of 2,500 suites, along with some 200,000 square foot of office and retail uses, and a new community centre. Front page intro here...

According to the SPA, it's brick. The only wood on the exterior is for the doors. (Recalling a conversation I had with an architect specializing in wood, I don't believe it can be used as an exterior cladding material under the new mid-rise wood-frame building code. Non-combustibility stuff).

A call for submissions for this year's TUDA has just been announced by the City. Submissions are being accepted until May 4th, with all submitted projects set to be displayed at City Hall in early September. The award ceremony itself is scheduled for September 13th. This year's jury has not yet...

Some years back I worked at the ROM gift store as a summer job. At night, we had to lock up all the food in a separate cupboard. Otherwise, we'd find chocolatey racoon footprints all over the place in the morning. Sometimes we'd get squirrels too. So yeah, there was most definitely a raccoon...

Both towers are designed by Giannone Petricone, and will rise from a shared podium. The Lighthouse Tower (on the west side of the side) will be actually now be 45 storeys, and the neighbouring "Lighthouse Tower East" will be 36 storeys. More info here...
