    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

The cost per kilometre doesn’t actually appear to be all that much greater. Especially because our light rail projects tend to have more grade separation than historic streetcars / LRT in other places because we run more service. It might be 2x the cost but the capacity is also great than 2x...

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

New York is bad in a ton of places! Even natives will tell you this. Just because some level of ambiguity is going to exist in any system, doesn’t mean we should try to make it better. . . It’s like suggesting that we shouldn’t invest in public transit because some people are always going to...

Ok so New York is bad but people survive so it's ok? I feel like that's a bad standard! Not confusing people is a worthwhile pursuit . . . it's a lot harder if you are ESL as well. Not having unique routes across the region is bad! It's needless confusion! Even if we have to prepend a letter...

    GTHA Transit Fare Integration

Thanks! I think the plans are certainly an improvement. A lot of people could benefit by taking TTC after arriving at Union whether to go to the Waterfront East or West, TMU or UofT, the AGO, the ROM, etc etc etc. and of course the same applies on the trip to the GO station! Maybe this will...

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

It's easy to dismiss the Spanish cost because of cost of living, etc, but the Transit Cost project (which you cited) already adjusts based on PPP, so it really is just super bad. They also mentioned land costs in the report and they were a pretty low number relative to the overall cost. At the...

Toronto GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I don’t share videos on here very frequently these days, but I’m very happy with how this one on the diamond came out and a bunch of people from the community helped out with it to create a super cool multi camera effect of a train crossing the guideway, check it out:

From a specs perspective the REM in Montreal probably already is. 1500V DC overhead line, similar car dimensions to the Ontario Line.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Because you can't always build more track the idea that we have the room depends, sure the raw space exists in most spaces but as you can see on the Lakeshore East Line - (which combined with Stouffville and VIA is handling maybe 10-12 TPH) it can be really expensive to unlock that space...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

My understanding, and this shows you the age of the temp diversion track starting to be widely used - is that it gained popularity in California when they still had tons of urban street railways.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Yep! Those are Ottawa style gates, the TTC ones are shorter in length and not designed for high volumes as per S&B's Website (now updated). Good to see that we are using high volume gates for rapid transit, and the extra length let's those who walk faster walk without an awkward pause waiting...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Don't agree at all, a section of short single track at the middle of the n-s line more or less can absolutely be worked around - if we have the desire to make it work. Platforms have been pretty close to done at Milliken and Agincourt and Kennedy for quite some time. We need to get used to...

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

I do feel like every day the Front Street Promenade and VIA Concourse feel even more desperately in need of a renovation of the renovation. Especially FSP with all of the peeling paint.

Great to see but also unsurprising, give people a convenient connection to some good options and they will use it! Great way to keep Union busy all day.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I concur with @Northern Light that these could have been done better and should be done more quickly but, it's pretty clear the rationale behind it - Stouffville new track and platforms should be able to be cut in and then you have double track except for the West Highland Creek crossing and...

https://www.cp24.com/news/shake-shack-is-coming-to-toronto-1.6323709 A Union location feels quite likely, it is Osmington doing the retail and Shake Shack has quite a few locations at major transport hubs in NYC.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

It was recent, but it really did look quite far along. They are putting in finishings and escalators, I think the clutter just makes it look less ready to go.

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

I mean the tracks are slowly getting put in, I wouldn't read into the delay that much. The site makes sense for a station even with minimal redevelopment to minimize the transfers for passengers from the west on the Kitchener Line to get to the airport, and connect to Line 6. The existing site...

GO Transit: Union Station Shed Replacement & Track Upgrades (Zeidler)

Even still, sliding doors would make far more sense if we must have doors, as used in the bus terminal. Trying to keep the station warm isn't unreasonable because we have a harsh climate, but we should be a bit more pragmatic!

    Toronto Bloor-Yonge Station Capacity Enhancement | ?m | ?s | TTC | AECOM

Its crazy that given the price of the project that they aren't just included on the Line 1 platforms. Based on Paris retrofitting them into a much more challenging environment the cost should probably be double digit millions on a what, 1.5 billion dollar project?
