Nice video. The OMB hearing is scheduled for mid January, 2015. Mediation facilitated by the OMB is currently underway . I predict these talks will lead to an agreement between the city and developer, with the tower getting a 5-10% haircut in height. It's the Toronto way.

    Toronto Riverside Square | 64.6m | 20s | Streetcar | RAW Design

Tall for the neighbourhood, especially with 3 towers of the same height... The mixed use infill is a positive along with the minimal number of parking spots.

Toronto Haven On The Bluffs Condos | 38.71m | 10s | VHL Developments | Master Building

One of my favorite mid-rise developments in Toronto. It's very important that this building is a success as it may be the catalyst to bring about the desperately needed makeover along that section of Kingston Road.

Not all Americans are foolish like that. Unfortunately, most just gobble up whatever nonsense that's presented without fact checking.

The second issue at 1WTC was the location from which the 1,776-foot measurement had been taken. The building has four entrances, one on each side. Three of those entrances are flush with the 9/11 Memorial Plaza, which is level with the base of the original World Trade Center towers. These three...

I'm not sure who made CTBUH the authority on these matters, but they have no backbone to report the truth. http://www.dnainfo.com/new-york/20131108/financial-district/wtc-spire-set-shine-friday-as-controversy-surrounds-its-height

    Toronto Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners

The building isn't really 1776 ft. It's a little taller thanks to a lighting rod. But rather then state the real height, this lie continues to be perpetuated to keep it at the symbolic 1776. My biggest pet peeve is there are only 80 real floors, instead of the advertised 108. You can't tell the...

Thanks for that i42! Great news. If any residents of Matlow's ward are inclined to tell him off for taking such a stance, it will be icing on the cake as M+G sails toward approval.

    Toronto Bisha Hotel and Residences | 146.91m | 44s | Lifetime | Wallman Architects

That's a laughable situation. No bank is going to accept cost estimates at face value from a developer. Independent cost estimates with significant contingencies would have been undertaken prior to loan approval. There are additional contingencies in the loan documents, which would call for...

I'm happy that some of the heritage buildings will be saved. I'm interested to hear adma's take. Also surprised to see PoW theater. stay. I thought that was a goner for sure. Are there other heritage buildings on the site that are worth saving by relocating one of the towers on top of PoW...

    Toronto 50 Bloor Street West | 230.11m | 70s | Morguard Corporation | Pellow + Associates

It's a sad pathetic game. If you want to develop a 75 storey building, you propose 83 and "negotiate" down to the desired height. Additionally, under Keesmaat, the planning department has become stalworth against setting new height precedents. Supertall fans take note, there is no land within...

    Toronto Cumberland Square | 253.92m | 75s | KingSett Capital | Giannone Petricone

Through backchannels... take with a grain of salt... Height was reduced from the lofty concept proposal at the instance of Toronto City Planning and Ward Councillour after preliminary meetings. Plan to demolish 2 Bloor Street office tower intended to mitigate concerns over density, but that was...

Great question. I doubt the OMB can approve this one. The approval has to come from the city.

There is nothing to prevent a public hearing while before the OMB. That was Adam Vaughan's plan originally since the panel was created after the OMB appeal. I'm amazed at the rush to defend the process when all we know that a promised public meeting prior to March 20 was suppose to take place...

How do you know this since there have been no public statements made. Do you have inside knowledge?

Keesmaat's legacy: cutting the Mirvish+Gehry towers down to size. I jokingly once said that I wish Keesmaat was made Chief Planner for Scarborough and other suburban areas do to her love of mid-rise building and pedestrian-oriented communities. She's proven to be effective and could work...
