    TTC surface stop spacing

I'm sorry but if you bought what Ford was selling before the election, it's an apt word. Guess what, even if we built the precious subways he was proposing, many people in Scarborough would STILL face 1.5+ hour commutes and nothing would have changed for most people in Etobicoke.

    TTC surface stop spacing

Yes that is what I misunderstood. Though having one at every stop seems excessive and it doesn't seem to fix the grade/ramp length issue I have read about. Keep in mind not all bus stops are accessible.

    TTC surface stop spacing

I don't see anything on there that suggests "all the stops". It sounds more like they're planning on upgrading existing platforms (islands and St Clair/Spadina platforms) and some on-street stops. If I remember there were legal limits to the permissible grade from the ramps so I don't know...

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

Passenger volumes on the Eglinton to Bloor segment of Yonge is increasing due to population growth and development along Yonge (a couple percent annually) and in future, presumably new riders attracted to the service by the Eglinton LRT.

    TTC surface stop spacing

I have not seen any document stating that they will be putting curb cuts through out the entire system. Can you post it? I do remember reading about Roncesvalles and the circumstances there that made the curb cuts acceptable. I do not see the city doing this in driving lanes of downtown...

Karen Stintz: Memo to incoming TTC chair

Clearly you did not see what Sheppard was like and that was only a stub.

    Transit City Plan

LOL. Now we're in the land of make believe. The zoo couldn't even support an express bus from STC and now we have people talking about subways there... I know there are some around here who say a $1 billion LRT line to the zoo is massive waste, I wonder what they'd say about a subway that ran...

    TTC surface stop spacing

Curb cuts at all the stops? That's not going to happen.

    Transit City Plan

While the idea of BD extension to STC is somewhat appealing, I think having the SRT as LRT might be better in the end so that it can connect with Eglinton. If it's cheaper it would also make the future extension to Malvern Town Centre via Centennial College much more palatable. This just...

    Transit City Plan

Have you been paying attention at all? Ford is far too intransigent for that. Mention that Eglinton east is going above ground and he turns into 100% obstructionist as evidenced by his actions these past few weeks at council and TTC meeting.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Fine with me. Spending multi-billions for 3km's of tunnel to hug the nearby Danforth subway doesn't really help the transit situation in Scarborough. That's only true if transit demand stays where it is today. In 50 years there might be enough demand on Sheppard to warrant it.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

How so? There's already a subway at the Kennedy hub that goes to Yonge Street and Ford's plan left no money to extend the SRT east to Centennial College. Sheppard doesn't count because magic beans won't build or fund a subway.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Yep. That looks like it was Ford's plan after all. Good thing he didn't prevail.

    TTC surface stop spacing

He gets that support because either a) people are stupid or b) just looking for something to reinforce entrenched beliefs. Take your example. Have you looked at bus stop placing? There are bus stops outside every subway station too.

    Transit City Plan

They were always going to be physically connected in both TC and Ford versions. The only question was whether the TTC would operate through-service on the tracks. If I'm reading it right, I think they will study the pros and cons of SRT to LRT conversion versus Danforth subway extension to...

    Transit City Plan

Stintz motion passed: - Eglinton (TC version), Finch West LRT, and SRT conversion to LRT to go ahead. Report on LRT vs subway on Sheppard East to come to council in March for consideration. - TTC and Metrolinx to discuss future projects: Sheppard West subway to Downsview, DRL, Danforth...

    Transit City Plan

Once you add context back into those quotes, I don't see anything glaringly incorrect about them.

    Transit City Plan

Cars move faster than subway trains too therefore building subways to improve transit is stupid.

Toronto CityPlace Puente de Luz Bridge | ?m | ?s | Concord Adex | Francisco Gazitua

Serious question: Why traffic lights instead of a crosswalk with those push buttons?
