Checked the bridge out today. The polished concrete came out very good. It feels very open and airy (Hmmm, i think I have been watching too much HGTV). HA
Hopefully they can get the elevators working soon so it's accessible to all.
That's funny. I thought I saw someone snapping a pic and wondered if it was a UT'er or someone who owned a unit there. I mean, who else takes pics of construction sites? 🤣 🤣
Too bad you weren't wearing a Northern Light jacket so I could identify you...I would have said hello.
I know these are only renders and the finished product, if built, can look very different but I am struggling to envision where the bridge in the lower right hand corner would lead to. Is this a possible pedestrian bridge heading to the portlands?
Will they still be doing the window treatment on the lower units? That was a rather striking design feature and, without it, the building looks quite plain. Lamb usually builds good looking buildings so I am still hopeful they are coming.
Agreed.
However, my comment was not politically motivated nor was I pointing fingers. I am just bummed that these things happen in Toronto and we live with an infrastructure that enables it (at any level of govt or policy) to happen.
☹️
The more I look at this, the more frustrated I get. It's no wonder Toronto is so banal. How is it even an option to consider tearing these buildings down?
Are we a great city? Absolutely, I am glad to call Toronto home! But, OMG...we just lack that vision to put us at the next level and it's so...
So, will they be cladding the exposed concrete or is that the finished product? I assumed it would be clad with the brick veneer but this hasn't been touched in ages so maybe they are leaving it raw?
There is some good news and bad news with this project.
The good news is they did a perfect job matching Phase 2 to look exactly like Phase 1.
The bad news is they did a perfect job matching Phase 2 to look exactly like Phase 1.
😀
Bridge is now open to traffic and I see the streetcar power lines up as well. Overall looks very good. The painted bridge and new railings are a big upgrade. However, they seem to have left the original railings untouched. Not sure why they wouldn’t have painted them as well. Looks a...
This project was a welcomed surprise and looks to have very exciting potential for the area and city. Throw in Mirvish + Gehry and hints of a redeveloped, future pedestrian-friendly King St...what's not to like? :)
One of the things I liked about the render was that the new building didn't...
Ah, I see. Thanks for letting me know, I didn’t realize this. Although I am a little more depressed now thinking we have less influence on design than I may have hoped. ☹️
I'm not sure what criteria Boards use in their approval process but I agree that Hotel X should have been pushed harder to improve their design. Particularly given its prominent location on the waterfront. I've looked up The Ex's Board and it lists the following members. Not sure if this is...
