    Mississauga (non-mall) Retail

The former Metro location in Westdale is now a FreshCo: http://www.mississauga.com/news/business/article/1295849--fifth-freshco-store-opens Speaking of Freshco, does anyone know what is going in the former PriceChopper at Mavis and Bristol? Seemed to be some activity going on there when I...

    Target

Apparently, 39 Zellers locations will be converted to Walmarts - this year. I seem to remember something about this but hadn't heard of the number of stores or locations.. Here are the Ontario stores: Gerrard Square Toronto Sheridan Mall Toronto Cedarbrae Mall Toronto Stanley Park...

    Target

Guess that goes to show you Target really just wants to concentrate on a good clean start-up here.. The court case would've dragged out well into next year.. this way there's way less 'politics' upon opening. Good for them.

Can you pay cash for airplane tickets?

I dunno about airfrares, but cash is not allowed for onboard purchases in most airlines now.. So if you want that sandwhich or that beer, it's gotta go on a credit card. Seems quite hard to live life these days without one...

    Target

Thanks for the link.. Also good to see the Target sign up on the corporate offices when you're on the 401 (near the airport).. I think that's the first place to officially have the logo up in Canada right?

    Mississauga (non-mall) Retail

Just saw an ad that says the McDonalds inside the Walmart is opening today (the 27th) at the Dixie/Dundas location. Does this mean the Walmart is open? I can't imagine them opening the McDonalds without the Walmart; but I did not see or hear anything about it opening up either.

Okay, dumb question time again.. Why do (some) of the balconies on the shorter tower look visibily different from the taller one? Is it just a reflection from the the other buildings? You can really notice it here: I'm talking about the panels that look much less transparent than...

Cheaper rent in Heartland and EMTC could make them keep those open. I imagine SQ1's lease rates are probably double the others..

    Mississauga (non-mall) Retail

Actually that sign has been around for sometime now (a few years maybe?).. Not sure why they never built one there as I think it would serve both Mississauga and South Brampton quite well.

    Mississauga (non-mall) Retail

Well... I think two are pretty good. Especially since there is another Costco not far away from that location (near Sherway). Having said that, there is another Walmart there too, but I would say Walmart easily gets twice the amount of traffic a Costco would get.

    Mississauga (non-mall) Retail

Yes, someone reported that in the "Lowes thread".. But that makes me more curious as to what else is coming in the Walmart plaza at Dixie/Dundas. I somehow have trouble thinking that Mississauga would have three Costco's..

Home Improvement (Lowe's, Rona, Home Depot)

South of Bristol, eh? I thought that's where Paradise was putting up new homes? This would be across from the former Price Chopper plaza right? Glad it's not coming in Heartland. That place is overcrowded as it is!

    Mississauga (non-mall) Retail

Well that's because it's not official yet. Costco is simply interested in building on a certain piece of land. With it being in the hands of Guelph City Council, that could mean anywhere from six months, to ten years (like Walmart) before it's open.

    Target

I was surprised too.. But then I realized that the (hopeful) construction on the mall itself might get in the way of the stores reno??

    Target

Interesting choices.. I'm surprised they choose Shoppers World Brampton over Bramalea (a more mainstream choice I would've thought). Any idea on when the remaining stores will open up?

    Square One Shopping Centre

Takes a lot of guts to kick out a church.. That is really lame of Oxford.. I'm sure there was some alternative...

    Mississauga (non-mall) Retail

I hope it is.. but it could also be a Real Canadian Superstore? And before you discount it, I know of at least two plaza's that have Walmarts and Superstores together like that (one in Oakville, the other in St Thomas).

Perhaps the proximity to the Queensway location has made them decide on a smaller store? It's really a 10 minute drive away from this location, isn't it?

    Toronto Eaton Centre

Before the 26th? What sort of toy store would close on the week of their best sales numbers?? And why are they closing? Or is it moving?
