    London's 2012 Olympic Stadium

I dont think that the outside would be covered in video screens, rather it would be clad in a white material that would have images projected into it. Rather low-tech, but still effective.

    Guelph

Old Quebec Street is still 100% better than the Eaton Centre mall that was there before.

    Toronto Pinewood Toronto Studios | 10m | 1s | Pinewood Group | HOK

The Canadian and Ontario governments also like to hand out nice grants and subsidies to help film-makers shoot here.

    Toronto Corus Quay | ?m | 8s | Waterfront Toronto | Diamond Schmitt

West 8 won the competition for the unified waterfront design, but I believe that each slip will be designed individually. Also, each of the parks are being designed individually (like Sherbourne Park)

Wow, someone died in a hospital. That must be a first.

Yeah, I was out last night and there are 2 white cranes in place.

I love how this building will over over the road, with stilts in the median holding it up. Tres cool.

    London's 2012 Olympic Stadium

It is too bad the bid design wasnt used. That would see the stadium covered in what looks like muscle fibres. Oh well. It is a stadium, of which London has several, so why spend tonnes of money for something that will end up under used like the Millenium Dome? If they animate the walls...

Post: Coyote Ugly coming to Toronto

The city zoned this area for such uses. Of course bars and clubs are going to locate there. Simple solution - you dont want more bars in one small area, get rid of the entertainment district bylaw. The "zone" has been established. Let it live or die by it's own reputation.

    Guelph

The Petrie Building has been the topic of conversation for a while. I remember discussions about restoring it back when I was at uni there, 10 years ago. Guelph is called the Royal City because it is named after the Royal House of Hanover, which was the British Monarchy house at the time the...

    Portrait Gallery in Toronto?

Toronto wont get it as the country generally has a hate-on for this city. Although I agree that Ottawa would be the best location, if Toronto could land it, the eastern silos would be a big benefit to eastern development of the waterfront. It would create a tourist anchor, giving people a...

    Church Street Bars/Clubs/Restos

No surprise here. It was reported that the new owner (same guy who ownes what used to be five) has a rep for not paying his bills in his hometown of London, UK. Church Street Bar was no different than Vice - just a different paint job. Vice had already moved the DJ booth away from the...

    Toronto Waterlink at Pier 27 | 43.89m | 14s | Cityzen | a—A

At least the West Side Lofts building is to remain as an art gallery. No doubt this sales centre will be carted off once the building is sold. Looks like a moveable building though....

    CityPlace: West One

I have always assumed that a Bremner Streetcar (which should actually be called Fort York Blvd Streetcar) would run along Queens Quay, up Spadina and then west along Fort York Blvd, accessing the western condos. It could turn onto Fleet Street (meeting up with the Bathurst or Exhibition...

Toronto Panorama at Concord CityPlace | 96.01m | 28s | Concord Adex | BDP Quadrangle

This kind of landscaping under the Gardiner is exactly what is needed to tie in that dead space with it's surroundings. Now, the city just needs to make more north/south connections under the Gardiner - sidewalks on both sides of the street crossing Lakeshore, lighting to make the underpasses...

John Street Roundhouse: Toronto Railway Heritage Centre, Steam Whistle, The Rec Room

I'm kind of surprised that noone has commented on the Roundhouse as of late. For the past 2 weeks or so there have been a crew working on what appears to be the rail turn-table.

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

They do sell those subway maps. I think that a TTC/GO/VIA store would have to be branded and marketed as a City Tourism thing. Just having a store wont really do it. The TTC and/or even GO would have to be branded in the public and tourist conciousness as being synonomous with the city...

Barber: Hazel Takes Up Charge for Municipal Funding

Dion really needs to attach himself to this. I know that the Libs werent for it under Martin, but it could be a cause where people actually see him take a stand on something. He would get the mayors on his side, he would get all the premiers on his side (after all, it would mean they dont have...
