    Toronto Lower Don Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

A couple more things I noticed today on Commissioners. The TTC bus stop is the hybrid style, with asphalt ramps and Zicla platform. The city seems to have a few different configurations depending on where you look. I wonder what factors into the decision on what style of use. The curbs...

The Keating Channel finally froze over, waiting for the bridges to open. ;)

The sign on Villiers Commissioners with the same message has been updated to say January 24 now.

Jan 23 seems to be the new date, "end of month" quoted elsewhere.

Unfortunately, the opening of the bridges has been pushed back to the end of the month, based on the latest e-mail from my contact at WT. "For a variety of reasons, the roads aren’t quite ready to open. We’re pushing really hard to get there. The new date is about two to three weeks from now...

It's not so much the rushing, but more that cyclists should not have to put up with yet another winter of riding along the Villiers detour with its poor drainage, uneven surfaces, and close proximity to heavy construction vehicles. The original opening date from earlier this summer was October...

Yep, heard from my contact at WT last week that the official opening has been pushed off to Jan 10/11. I bike through there every day, and since it looks like we will have a mild December, I don't mind the delay that much. Last year, the worst days were when Villiers flooded and then froze into...

I saw a lost driver in a car with Nova Scotia plates enter the site late at night, stopped, inched forward, then hesitatingly drove across the bridge before I lost sight of them at Commissioners. I hope they found their way out... 😁 I myself have been sorely tempted to breach the site and spend...

Yep, I'm normally much more surreptitious when taking photos of construction sites. I thought it was because they see me a few times a day (I ride a giant FedEx cargo bike right past there every day) and I always give them a nod or a flip a salute. But then the fellow in the full hi-viz jacket...

Quick shout out to the crews working on this project! They're always ready with a wave or thumbs up when I ride by. Maybe it's just my imagination, or perhaps the relative lack of controversy on this project, but these crews seem to be the happiest of the bunch I encounter daily downtown. :D

I must have come by about an hour after you were there. One guy was saying "less than two weeks, for sure". The main roadway over the Cherry St N bridge still needs to be finished, and I can't quite tell how far along they are on the Commissioners St side. This will make a lovely Christmas...

    Toronto Lower Don Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

Talked to some Waterfront Toronto people this morning. Looks like they are aiming for an October 18 opening of the Cherry Street North and Commissioners Street bridges. Given the visible progress recently on those fronts, I daresay they'll hit that target. Twelve more weeks, and my bike will...
