TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

I believe their contract stipulates 2019 for full delivery. While they have not met their delivery schedule, they are holding firm on the 2019 deadline (for what it's worth. While 2018 is a very tight delivery schedule, 2019 is not so tight. I can see the bulk of the deliveries being pushed into...

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

    I guess Fred's not there either. :D

    The already-mentioned 4459 loaded up.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

I see an important ramp up that we should not discount. Is BBD getting over its supply chain issues? Yes. 3 deliveries per week. That's what they need to get to in 2018, and there are reasons to be encouraged.

    Toronto 191 Bay | 301.74m | 64s | QuadReal | Hariri Pontarini

Apologies if this has already been asked, but I wonder why they are not including the spire height in the official height. That counts, as far as Emporis is concerned.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

I find the whole pushback to be a little silly and premature. The small amount of on-street parking surely cannot account for that much business. Meanwhile, more people are taking the King streetcar. I'm pretty sure those people eat food as well.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

68 retired CLRV = 132 remaining 10 retired ALRV = 42 remaining. 55 replacements delivered. If I count correctly (which I probably don't). Not as bad a deficit as I thought.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

I just read that their pace is now over one streetcar per week, with the goal to get it to three per week. It's a pretty serious ramp up, which of course had to come. They're still committed to having all streetcars delivered by 2019. Does anyone know how many streetcars (old and new) are in...

Will Tory face stronger opposition from the Left or a right-wing populist in the next election?

NDP, yes, but it's hard to see the Liberals fielding a candidate, given that the Ontario Liberals commitment on infrastructure dovetails well with Tory's plan.

    Toronto Sherway Gardens Expansion | ?m | 2s | Cadillac Fairview | DIALOG

SportChek on North Queen has closed down and they are moving inventory to the new location in the mall. Oddly, there's still no grand opening date posted on the SportChek website or in the mall. I'm actually looking forward to this, as the SportChek at Yorkdale is great, but that mall is hell...

I'm liking the curves. Keeping up with Mississauga.

    Toronto Sherway Gardens Expansion | ?m | 2s | Cadillac Fairview | DIALOG

I concur with what people have said so far about the problem with Sherway as it currently stands. I do like the North expansion, however the building has really lost its soul with the closing of the Gourmet Fair. I'm sure it will change when Nordstrom finally opens its doors and this gap is...

    Toronto Festival Tower and tiff Lightbox | 156.96m | 42s | Daniels | KPMB

This building is a huge success where it matters -- the street. I recently went out on a warm spring evening and sat on a patio across from it, just watching the colours change on the base and taking in the overall feel of the area. Considering I was very concerned how a large tower would...

A theory about Rob Ford's support base

Ford makes a big deal about returning phone calls. That's great. He should become a Bell Canada operator. But on any substantive issues or any votes at City Hall, where the "rubber meets the road", there's disconnect. For example, he voted to end sidewalk clearing for seniors. Yeah, those...

A theory about Rob Ford's support base

That has to be one of the biggest pile of tea-party inspired bunk I have ever read on this forum. The commoners vs. the elitists? Give me a break. Elections, like any elections, revolve around themes and ideas. Ford is no more in touch with the common people than any other politician, perhaps...

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

Actually, you don't. No candidate ever released more than a partial list during the election campaign, but all candidates have to reveal them in their entirety after the election. There has been zero media attention to whether this has happened post election, though.

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

Excuse me? I think we all approach an issue with our own set of biases. I acknowledge mine, and have never attempted to hide where I'm coming from. I don't expect everyone to adore George Smitherman, but I would hope that the educated and articulate people of this forum can take a balanced view...

Indeed. The built form is reminiscent of the Minto Midtown towers.

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

Ah, yes. The Green Energy and Economy Act, hailed as the most innovative green economy legislation in North America, and estimated to create 50,000 green jobs. Terrible tragedy, all those jobs. But, on the subject of the $1 billion, my point was that people love to exaggerate a story, and the...

    Toronto Bloor Street Revitalization | ?m | ?s | Bloor-Yorkville BIA | architectsAlliance

It's $4.5-million over budget. Your friend is off by $995.5 million. http://news.nationalpost.com/2010/05/19/council-oks-4-5m-overrun-for-bloor-street-redesign/ But that example, and syn's reaction, are interesting case studies in the how Rob Ford math rounds everything up to $1 billion. This...
