nobody belongs in an institution. It's about creating homes that are tolerant to the sorts of behaviours that make people unfit for what is considered normal housing.

    Homelessness and Panhandling in Toronto

I've had much experience with the shelter system, mental health system and legal. There are 3 types of homeless 1. A person(with no mental illness) who lost their job, and is unable to pay rent and ends up homeless. Makes use of homeless services. Gets an apartment and that's it. (VERY RARE...

    Toronto as #2

I lived in Montreal for 28 years, and been in T.O. for the last 10 years. I can't say I like either city. Montreal is limiting in my experience. Many companies, new immigrants whom have little ability to function in french won't start out there. Montreal may seem trendy, but, it's somewhat...

Jane Creba Trial: JSR Charged, Controversy!

I work closely with the forensic system. If you're child is robbing, raping and packing a gun at 13. Trust me,it's gonna get worse. It's not confusion, it's the begining of a carreer criminal.

The Big Bop shuts down (hideous purple building on Queen/Bathurst)

umm, indeed it does. but, i guess i mean from a hardcore/punk/noise/industrial/death metal sense it does..that's the types of bands i'm talking about that played there. but it recent years, those bands have slowly died out in toronto. some bands from the USA and abroad won't even come...

The Big Bop shuts down (hideous purple building on Queen/Bathurst)

it's too bad. it's one of the last venues that "underground" bands can play at. Toronto sux music wise anyhow, so, it won't make much of a difference

    is racism common in Toronto?

lol, what if it was the third or 4th thing you said about the person? Does that make someone a 4th rate racist. If I'm going to be racist..I want to be first rate

Death of Clubland (aka: Is Adam Vaughan trying to kill the Club District?)

I hope that in the future,a club can open wherever it wants downtown, all things being equal, limiting clubs to one area is too restrictive and creates problems because it's oversaturated

I hope Mr. Vaughn succeeds in his efforts.

    is racism common in Toronto?

I agree, but, to some extent I think when you go so far as to equate someone as being racist for using racist terms, or, as above stated, calling someone sexist for using derogatory words to describe women, it's an extrapolation. This is often a tactic to take things to another level, If I...

    is racism common in Toronto?

I never wrote that using derogatory words was right, and that it wouldn't affect people. I just don't think that calling someone a name out of anger is equatable to being racist if that were the case, then alot of people would fit in the category of racist, not withstanding race The...

    is racism common in Toronto?

I think Chris Rock said, that when you're mad you're going to call the person you're mad it,..the lowest, meanest thing that you can at the time. Calling somebody a name, doesn't mean you're a racist.

    is racism common in Toronto?

"your own" means whatever you identify with at any given time, and you can break it down to the most miniscule thing... male/female white/asian/black...etc tall/short I would assert though, that you would have to have SOME common ground with "your own" for them to see you as part of...

    is racism common in Toronto?

yeah, they already tried to have us live in their basement...they still dream of us one day living next door! But, more and more, I'm considering living closer. I don't think that it's racist to want to be with your "own"..it's comfortable

    is racism common in Toronto?

That's been my experience. I'm white, married into a chinese family. My wife, told me straight up, that her parents had difficulty with the fact that I was north american, and that I didn't understand, or adhere to what they expected of a chinese son in law. Also, I didn't totally understand...

    Crime rate in Toronto?

It seems to me, just from news reports, that most crime happens around North York (somewhere near Jane) and in Scarborough Actually, when I first moved to Toronto, I couldn't tell them apart they are almost mirror images of each other
