I don't know that Ford deserves too much credit for this one. All he's done is not publicly vocally oppose it (yet). Surely 6 people will call him to complain and he'll start huffing and puffing about the war on cars again.

With an extended Sheppard Subway, I can just imagine the squables already....inbound to NYCC or inbound to STC? Let's not fuel Scarborough's inferiority complex any further and just stick with the old N-S-E-W.

In you previous statements you seem to have ignored the part where "more people are attracted to LRT versus...a plain vanilla bus" and focussed on the "more people are attracted to a subway vs LRT". The SELRT would serve anyone who opted not to take that bus route, and there are a ton of choice...

I was in London in 2005 when Labatt had 2 similar-sized tanks delivered. It was pretty cool to see these enormous loads crawling down the street in front of my office. Quite the production with all the support crews...like a mini parade.

Umm...you might want to look into this a little deeper. They do count riders periodically. Where do you think their numbers come from? Saying they have high cost recovery 'because they have to' isn't really an answer. TTC's funding subsidy level (per resident) is middle-of the-road iirc...

Wait...why do we care what colour Hurontario is? By this logic we need to avoid duplicating VIVA colours too. At least our subway lines actually connect to VIVA routes. As long as the lines don't touch, duplication is not a primary concern, and DRL and Hurontario will never ever intersect.

I can sort of relate to people whining about the vehicle registration fee. $60 is at least a real amount of money. But anyone who complains about 5c for a plastic bag?...and is so adamant they bring that complaint to the mayor?....they can go fuck themselves.

Regular contributors to this site (ie. engaged citizens) argue that TC lines will be removing traffic lanes and running at 20kmph...just imagine how poorly informed the average person is.

I seem to remember, a couple of years ago, reading somewhere that Vancouver's honour system had been a net gain. IE the lost revenue was less than the cost of enforced fare collection. Now I see they're installing gates (jumpable, and still unmanned), so maybe things have changed since then...

I think you've missed the point. No one cares whether he has a degree or not. Heck, part of his charm is that he's a straight talkin' blue collar idiot. People are upset that he feels the need to continually lie about his past. There was NO benefit to lying about this.

Oh, absolutely not. I expect drivers will continue to clog the roads and complain about the number of other drivers, ignoring the fact they themselves are part of the problem. That's how people's brains work, and I don't see that changing any time soon, if ever. Induced demand be a harsh...
