This headline just screams front page: Cost Increase Justified and Reasonable

    1233 Queen East | ?m | 8s

There was another thread about this a few month ago, and I think the actual number was somewhere around 2 cents per fare. Why we put up with so much garbage for that little return is beyond me. I'd be in full support of a metropass increase to pay for an ad-free TTC, and yes I'm a metropass...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

I don't know that Ford deserves too much credit for this one. All he's done is not publicly vocally oppose it (yet). Surely 6 people will call him to complain and he'll start huffing and puffing about the war on cars again.

    Poll: Renaming Yonge-University-Spadina

With an extended Sheppard Subway, I can just imagine the squables already....inbound to NYCC or inbound to STC? Let's not fuel Scarborough's inferiority complex any further and just stick with the old N-S-E-W.

    Transit City: Sheppard East Debate

In you previous statements you seem to have ignored the part where "more people are attracted to LRT versus...a plain vanilla bus" and focussed on the "more people are attracted to a subway vs LRT". The SELRT would serve anyone who opted not to take that bus route, and there are a ton of choice...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Maybe he should consider bulk purchasing from a bag manufacturer. Could even get his own custom logo on side...maybe a pic of him giving the finger to the planet, or punching a seagull or something.

Moving Giant Beer Tank to Toronto Complex Manoeuvre

I was in London in 2005 when Labatt had 2 similar-sized tanks delivered. It was pretty cool to see these enormous loads crawling down the street in front of my office. Quite the production with all the support crews...like a mini parade.

    Transit City: Sheppard East Debate

We can all agree there are issues with the report, and especially with the articles about the report. That has no relation to, and doesn't justify, Ford's prolonged cold-shouldering of the Star. It's childish.

    March 2011 TTC Service Cutbacks

Munro commented that surface route counts were infrequent, and that subway counts were inaccurate.. I don't know what this has to do with the scenario you were describing. I still maintain that the TTC can better estimate ridership than a guy in a civic following a bus around. I also maintain...

    March 2011 TTC Service Cutbacks

Umm...you might want to look into this a little deeper. They do count riders periodically. Where do you think their numbers come from? Saying they have high cost recovery 'because they have to' isn't really an answer. TTC's funding subsidy level (per resident) is middle-of the-road iirc...

    Poll: Renaming Yonge-University-Spadina

Wait...why do we care what colour Hurontario is? By this logic we need to avoid duplicating VIVA colours too. At least our subway lines actually connect to VIVA routes. As long as the lines don't touch, duplication is not a primary concern, and DRL and Hurontario will never ever intersect.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Same. Except I use my occasional plastic bags to leave my occasional empty beer cans and wine bottles at the sidewalk. Saves me the trouble of returning them, saves them the trouble of digging through my blue-box. Ford would be shocked at how little I care about nickels and dimes.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

I can sort of relate to people whining about the vehicle registration fee. $60 is at least a real amount of money. But anyone who complains about 5c for a plastic bag?...and is so adamant they bring that complaint to the mayor?....they can go fuck themselves.

    Transit City Plan

Regular contributors to this site (ie. engaged citizens) argue that TC lines will be removing traffic lanes and running at 20kmph...just imagine how poorly informed the average person is.

    Poll: Renaming Yonge-University-Spadina

I don't think anyone is suggesting the DRL will (or should) actually be called 'DRL' once built. But using current naming schemes it would likely be saddled with Don Mills - Front - Jane, or Pape - King - Keele, or some messy variation. You might be right...maybe switching to colours is not a...

    Transit City Plan

Thanks for the sarcasm-dripping oversimplification of a complex issue. Can't wait for you to twist this logic back around to justify blowing it all on a subway from that one mall to that other mall.

    Eglinton-Crosstown Corridor Debate

I seem to remember, a couple of years ago, reading somewhere that Vancouver's honour system had been a net gain. IE the lost revenue was less than the cost of enforced fare collection. Now I see they're installing gates (jumpable, and still unmanned), so maybe things have changed since then...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Nope, nothing at all. Richer than shit. Nepotism at it's finest. But the Horde thinks he's blue collar and that's all that matters. They also think he's honest and hardworking...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

I think you've missed the point. No one cares whether he has a degree or not. Heck, part of his charm is that he's a straight talkin' blue collar idiot. People are upset that he feels the need to continually lie about his past. There was NO benefit to lying about this.

Despite what Ford says The Streetcar in Toronto is here to stay.

Oh, absolutely not. I expect drivers will continue to clog the roads and complain about the number of other drivers, ignoring the fact they themselves are part of the problem. That's how people's brains work, and I don't see that changing any time soon, if ever. Induced demand be a harsh...
