GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Any idea of what new bus service may be supported by the facilities being built at Clappison's Corners on Highway 6 near Hamilton, and on Shirley Ave in Kitchener?

Toronto GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Actually, how does that work for an elevated railway through an urban area? You can't just dump it off the side, can you?

This. Please speak up for sound planning, not just here but at Council - or at least by emailing your councilors.

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

The Transit Hub would be a completely separate project, unrelated to Grandlinq's contract for ION phase 1. DBFOM is a lot of planning and legal overhead for the much smaller scale of the hub.

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

Not by the Region of Waterloo - it's too early politically. Cambridge must be the second phase for regional coherence, so having serious discussions of other lines before the Cambridge EA is complete and funded would not be received well. Considering that the primary driver of the project is...

Rail: Ontario-Quebec High Speed Rail Study

I don't understand. If you're not on the hook for principal or interest, how is it in any way your debt?

Rail: Ontario-Quebec High Speed Rail Study

None of your claims in this quote is true.

Rail: Ontario-Quebec High Speed Rail Study

I may be biased, but IMHO the big argument for Kitchener being on the line is that connecting the Kitchener-Waterloo tech sector with Toronto's tech sector (and Toronto's culture) would have a huge economic impact. It would make this corridor much more competitive with places like the San...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Metrolinx has partnered with a Waterloo start-up called RideCo for a pilot in Milton for pretty much that purpose. It's last-mile flexible shared trips for commuters, at least in this case. GO's interested because it expands beyond their parking capacity. Apparently it's doing pretty well.

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

And if we had that problem with ION, it would be entirely the responsibility of Grandlinq (the private consortium in this P3) to remedy it.

    Taxis and ride-sharing in Toronto

The taxi by-law that Uber isn't following is that of the Region of Waterloo, which includes Baden. So if they don't follow it in K-W, they could just as well not follow it in Baden....

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

According to a random paper I found, wood ties are $236K (2007 USD) per mile versus $308K for concrete ties. For 19 km of track times two, we're talking about the difference between $8.5m CAD and $11m, which is less than one-third of one percent of the capital costs of the project. The cost of...

    Taxis and ride-sharing in Toronto

It may be relevant to this discussion - the Region of Waterloo has released a draft taxi by-law for public and stakeholder consideration. It currently would require essentially the same things for taxis and "auxiliary taxis" in terms of vehicle and driver requirements, but with no cap on the...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Metrolinx detailed 2015-2016 deliverables from the June board meeting include "Complete Kitchener corridor GO bus service rationalization plan and implementation Q3 2015-16". I'm not sure when their fiscal year is, but I assume that means we should expect some changes along those lines in early...

    VIA Rail

The stretch we're talking about - between Georgetown and Kitchener - is owned by Metrolinx now, so I'd wonder when they are planning to do the double-tracking themselves....

    VIA Rail

VIA is apparently considering it. I know that it would be a huge win for the local tech employers, Google in particular.

    Best commute Toronto to Kitchener

Because it's Greyhound - if you don't line up, the bus could fill up entirely and Greyhound wouldn't bother to send another one. That's the kind of experience a lot of people I know have had, and why a number of them have sworn off Greyhound in favour of the one-transfer GO bus trip. As for the...

    Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

The Regional Municipality of Waterloo is composed of the cities of Kitchener, Cambridge, and Waterloo, and the townships of Woolwich, Wellesley, Wilmot, and North Dumfries. In 2000, the Region took over transit from Kitchener (which served Waterloo as well) and Cambridge. It was part of a plan...

    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

Claims that virtually all travelers know their transportation options exactly prior to arriving at the destination airport are silly. It's generally a pretty reasonable approach to get to [City Name] airport, make an effort to find the trains to the city, and otherwise get a taxi/Uber/etc...
