that black cladding is hot! finally something different. The cladding on the rest of the podium looks BA banal but it does break up the monolith nature of it.

i feared for this project and worried about the gargantuan podium but this actually doesn't look too bad..I do like the black cladding and like the windows in the podium, plus the variation separating the building.

Yonge and Bloor is a great location (i had already posted about 2 years ago on this..mentioning that the 1BE site would be ideal for the next supertall).

I am sure it will get built..if it doesn't wouldn't this make a magnificent urban square?

they should get rid of the anti-competition clause. That is uncompetitive and I think the lawyers should take a look at it. This is the biggest stumbling block here. Imagine this... bring another NHL team to Toronto, upgrade the rink (at a very high cost I know). IT would be economic and...

nice glass but will be boxy banal in the end. A missed opportunity to build a really tall tower (since there are three towers to be built the demand must have been enough to build one taller than this one). If not a super tall on this spot then where?

very cool pics..especially that last one. makes Scotia look really good. BA is bland as I have said all along..but you are right Tricky...it does add density and adds to the ensemble. I think though in 2008 we were hoping for more given what is happening in the rest of the world.

it is almost bold of them to build a simple glass box in this day and age. It will be nice infill but not noticable otherwise..hopefully will provide texture and context for a bolder, taller tower nearby that may arise out of the next boom ten years hence.

i think BA missed an opportunity...perhaps to build one tower much taller rather than two of similar tall but not supertall sizes. Also the glass box is underwhelming and unoriginal...but i still have hopes its final rendition will be classy.

The great sense of arrival at ACC will be lost..I always liked the dramatic sight of the ACC with the spotlights on sporting event nights..now it will be crowded in and lost with the bulky podia of the Maple Leaf "Square" towers.

Do you mean foreign films like Batman and Iron Man...those are foreign films too. It is a shame to see these go as they provide alternatives to the usual fare. Also the legacy of the film festival in Yorkville (part of its success I would posit) will continue to be lost as the cluster of...
