    New Transit Funding Sources

From Macleans Um, I don't know how the author could get this so wrong. Just as before we have a plan first - The Big Move - and now we're looking at ways to pay for it. We know exactly where this money trying to be raised it going for. Hell it's one of the main selling points of any new taxes...

OLG Toronto/GTA casino proposal (where to put it?)

Sadly the person he was replying to put their twitter to private sometime after it was posted but all it was saying was touting the union jobs for a casino. Unfortunately since it's unverifiable now I guess we might as well just ignore it.

OLG Toronto/GTA casino proposal (where to put it?)

It's not as if counselors are all engaging in enlightening discussions with Torontonians.

OLG Toronto/GTA casino proposal (where to put it?)

http://www.thestar.com/news/city_hall/2013/02/01/where_toronto_councillors_stand_on_a_casino.html Considering the council vote doesn't involve where a propose casino will go it looks like it'll be a long shot it'll ever get approved.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Is Metrolinx just making this up as they go along?

    Toronto 55 Sheppard East | 45.41m | 14s

Last piece of info I could find. 2011.GM5.10 North York City Centre Service Road - Application for Approval to Expropriate 49 Sheppard Avenue East and 14 to 24 Bonnington Place

    Toronto 55 Sheppard East | 45.41m | 14s

Wasn't the city planning to expropriate the land for the service road extension?

    Toronto 2450 Victoria Park | 94m | 29s | Collecdev | gh3

With the recent push from City Planning to retain employments lands this is going to have a steep hill to climb.

Why more skyscrapers than "Avenue" style building proposals?

How would that even work? I can't imagine there's a simple way to just "allow" mid-rises without massive zoning changes since they're legal bylaws.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Ah twitter journalism, where it's impossible to go without making smartass comments.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Yeah, I always thought the the tunneling was relatively cheap (the boring itself) and it was the installation of track, electrical, signaling, etc. that drives up the cost. I found this from an article regarding Sheppard's construction from 2000:

    Toronto Hullmark Centre | 167.94m | 45s | Tridel | Kirkor Architects

I believe it fell prey to NIMBYism.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

With the move of the DRL to the 15 year plan Metrolinx needs to address a connection at Don Mills at least in some form. Detailed work of roughing in a box right underneath for the DRL might be too time consuming for the Crosstown schedule but at the very least Metrolinx needs to be sure that...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Considering they somehow failed to notice the development east of Brentcliffe that's been advertised for YEARS even with the LRT in their on street ads I wouldn't put much faith in their ability to plan for the future.

    Major Transportation Works (Roads) 2013-2022

Beecroft is due to be extended north to Drewry when the subway gets extended right? And wow, I never thought I'd see the city actually expand Steele in the northeast. Always seemed to be conflicts with York Region over that idea.

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

I don't see how converting the Sheppard Subway to LRT would lead to a reasonable reduction in operating/capital cost. What makes a subway so expensive is its nature of being underground and grade separated. There's the cost of stations, tunnels and possibly bridges. All of these would still...

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

Don't forget the West Don bridge, it's too narrow for an LRT.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Brilliant NOW cover? It's hyperbolic to an insulting degree. http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/article/1296404--now-magazine-cover-featuring-rob-ford-compared-to-time-s-cover-of-hitler

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I thought part of what led to Ford's transit plan trouble with council was that it was too much of a problem to tunnel under the Don.
