Roads: Highway 401 Widening - Highway 8 to Highway 410 (MTO, U/C, Planned)

That's because the only work going on right now is the widening of the Mavis Road overpass. The Mavis Road contract was issued as an advance contract ahead of widening the 401 to the Credit River, which is the boundary of the next phase of widening the 401. My understanding is that the 410...

    Roads: Gardiner Expressway

The eastbound paved roadway disappears to become a grassed 4-wheel drive portion of Lakeshore. Relax though, you'll only need 4WD when it's raining.

    miWay Transit

Ridgeway Drive has been bridged over the 403 for a few years now. The connection for Britannia hasn't showed up in the city's budget for awhile now, the Creekbank extension over the 401 was mused about for a few consecutive budgets, however it seems to have been quietly dropped as well.

    Mississauga Mississauga Transitway | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | IBI Group

The city is in litigation against the contractor for all the delays that have occurred. I would assume money stopped flowing to the contractor a long time ago and that's why progress has pretty much stopped. Hopefully once it's all settled in court these stations can be finished.

    Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I suggest you reffer to the post I was replying to and/or read the sentence you bolded more clearly. Either or would have sufficed to have cleared up any of your confusion. I was simply clearing up why the start date of construction isn't until 2018. Once again, due to the lengthy...

    Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

We've already had a significant amount of discussion about this earlier in the thread, although admittedly it's been clouded out by all the non-relevant discussion that's occured here. Assuming this project goes through Infrastructure Ontario's Alternative Financing Procurement (AFP) model...

    Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

The delays incurred on the TYSSE had nothing to do with how the project was tendered. They were tendered by the traditional design-bid-build approach that's used for most public construction projects, whereby the detailed design is done before the project goes out to tender. The...

    Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

As I mentioned earlier, the whole RFQ and RFP process for this project will take some time. While I can't find when Waterloo started their RFQ process, they released the shortlist of construction companies in February of 2013, the RFP was then issued a couple months after and didn't close...

    Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

You must not be out that way too often then. I find ridership on the 502 north of Theatre Lane to be picking up considerably to the point where buses in midday are usually standing loads north of Theatre lane and in the rush hour, buses have standing loads in the peak direction (AM SB, PM NB)...

    Roads: Gardiner Expressway

That's because the current works being performed by Grascan/Torbridge is just for the deck replacement, it's only a 66 million dollar contract. That article is regarding the proposition of using this method to repair the Gardiner, which still had to be decided on at the time of the contract...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Construction work on the Torbram Road grade seperations has already started. Dufferin Construction is performing the work and according to the signs posted along the road completion is scheduled for 2017. Dufferin's bid amount for the project was $66, 756, 213.

    Sidewalk plowing

Uh, the very first tenders posted this morning were for the Toronto/East York Districts, which is divided into two districts: 1 and 2. District 1 covers everything in Toronto/East York which lies east of Spadina, District 2 covers everything west of Spadina. District 1 is covered under documents...

    Sidewalk plowing

The city released the call documents for sidewalk/bus stop/crossings clearing and salting for the next 7 years. Unfortunately it does not look like the sidewalk plowing network will be expanded beyond arterial roads in the downtown area.

Toronto Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

Actually, the passing track on the Barrie line has already been tendered out and construction should be starting soon. It just never received any media attention, unlike the Stouffville line passing track which received media attention just for the release of the tender documents. Fermar...

    Brampton Transit/Zum

From a transit planning and operations perspective it makes the most sense to seperate the two. You have an ideal point to split the route, at a terminal where chances are you're going to see most people get off at anyways. Longer routes suffer from reliability issues and problems with matching...

    Brampton Transit/Zum

Coincidentally enough today is my first time seeing one of the 2014 Novas outside of the Sandalwood Complex. 1402 is currently laying over at the Gateway Terminal. I'm sure many of you will be disappointed by the lack of a rear window on this series. Since they are part of a multi-year 70...

    Brampton Transit/Zum

That's an old article from 2013, Brampton Transit received 15 4th generation Nova LFSes (#1401-1415) last summer and coinciding with the arrival of 10 more 2014 XDE60s (#1575-1584) for Züm. The artics have been in service for awhile, but the 2014s were still sitting in the Sandalwood Works...

    Roads: 403/401/410 Interchange (MTO)

The lack of through lanes isn't the problem here, it's the bottlenecks at the 401 and 407 interchanges which should be dampened to a degree with the two additional lanes being built. I used to make the drive to my girlfriend's up at Sandalwood in the afternoon rush hour, getting on at...

    Sidewalk plowing

I stumbled upon a staff report from last year in regards to sidewalk plowing in the Toronto and East York district. I think most of you will be pleased by the discussion...

Where Does the Snow Get Dumped?

Melting only occurs at the Transit Road site when the facility fills up and you'd be surprised just how much snow is brought there. Budapest Park and Ellesmere Yard seem to be the only spots where melting is performed right away. Mississauga expiremented with a snow melter quite some time...
