    Toronto Lower Don Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

There is something fundamentally human about using our environmental surroundings as a canvas for expression, be it freight trains, cave walls, new bridges, or renaturalized flood plains we convert into park space. It's all vandalism in some regard. I think our efforts are better spent...

    Toronto Regent Park: Phases 4 and 5 | 134.1m | 39s | Tridel | Karakusevic Carson Architects

Early this morning, before the machines could start up.

I've always hated Rebel/Sound Academy but I will fight like hell for its right to exist. If we're going to celebrate our Music City status, we need live music venues in close proximity to where people live. Axis and History prove it's possible. Plus, Rebel was a certain Bridle Path rapper's...

Can confirm, it takes a fairly thick layer of snow for that field to not be in use everyday.

Maintaining it hasn't exactly been cheap either. Every penny spent tearing it down is a penny saved in the long run.

Worth noting that when we talk about affordable units in Regent Park, we're talking about TCHC buildings not market rate condos. The condos are most certainly not affordable housing, regardless of how much cheaper they were at one time. The best part of the Regent revitalization is that many...

    Toronto Harris Square | 50.29m | 13s | Urban Capital | Saucier + Perrotte

This settlement crack along all the granite pavers is a real shame. I would hope this is being addressed, but photos in the thread from last year show it had already formed then. Photo taken June 15.

    Toronto 505 Parliament | 36.62m | 10s | Streetwise | RAW Design

While I suspect some others in the neighbourhood will push back on this, I like it. And while I agree the original facade isn't all that remarkable, it is inherently better than a 12-foot glass wall that we so often get with new builds. I'd keep the facade just to safeguard against that alone.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Regarding Dundas from Parliament to River, I'd emailed the constituent office about the bike lanes being made permanent, and how upcoming TTC diversions will impact that work. I was forwarded this response from Becky Katz:

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

For me it was an unfortunate fusion of front tire and streetcar track that took me down (sans helmet) and changed my usage pattern. I thought I had mastered the art of safely crossing tracks, but a bit of rain and trying to cross from a stopped position without forward momentum (making a left...

    Toronto Lower Don Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

I passed through last night. There was a particularly busy event taking place at Rebel, with cars backed-up all along Polson in both directions (and hundreds of people arriving on foot or via TTC). Any traffic that was heading further south was stuck in the queue of vehicles waiting to turn...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Yeah, there's certainly a lot of width to work with for the permanent design and I'm very curious to see what is proposed. As much as I love wide bike lanes, they shouldn't be as inviting to cars as they are now. I'd especially like to see some allowance for better cyclist left turn...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

I live here, and very much welcome the congestion compared to the speedway with optional red lights as it was before the bike lanes. I've had 4 close calls crossing at the light as a pedestrian. A neighbour was killed mid-afternoon two years ago. It was BAD. However, that's not to say the...

    Toronto Regent Park: Phases 4 and 5 | 134.1m | 39s | Tridel | Karakusevic Carson Architects

I'm glad they are planning to retain some of the existing buildings, but I'm a bit surprised that they've chosen that particular residential building. In my mind, the H-shaped 4 story buildings with green entranceways are what Regent is known for. Those footprints are especially iconic. I would...

    Toronto 1 Sumach | 120m | 35s | Block | gh3

Meh, it's extremely well-used and well-liked though. The only grit I'd complain about is the dust accumulation on the basketball courts due to the absence of rainwater flushing them out. I can't speak to the conditions of the children's play area though. The best part of the Underpass Park...

Perhaps the cube house could be incorporated into this parkette? Let the novelty be experienced by all. Really the only thing I dislike about this proposal is the name “Artsplace” in how similar it is to Artscape.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

I live on this stretch of Dundas. Prior to the bike lanes being installed there was significant problem with speeding and running lights. Drivers treat Dundas between Parliament and Broadview like a DVP on-ramp. I've had three close calls as a pedestrian nearly getting hit in the crosswalks...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

There's the non-trivial issue of that bridge terminating at grade with the southbound DVP lanes. I would like to see some interesting repurposing of that bridge though, even if it isn't practical as a crossing point.

Toronto Toronto Island Park Master Plan | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto

I have a hard time believing congestion within the harbour is any more than a minor nuisance to some, or isn't a solvable problem if it were to become one. And we should be giving preference to public vessels rather than to private pleasure crafts. As for who would use a bridge or ferry to the...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

One gets a sense that this announcement of nothing substantial is merely a counter offensive against growing calls to implement planning protections for the First Parliament site.
