GO Transit: Union Station Shed Replacement & Track Upgrades (Zeidler)

You're describing the current track configuration. I'm talking about an ideal one.

GO Transit: Union Station Shed Replacement & Track Upgrades (Zeidler)

The operative word there is "effectively". Without a passing track, the train behind can't leave before the train in front, and an empty berth in front can't be accessed if the rear one is occupied. Unless, of course, you operated the station as if it was 2 back to back terminal stations but...

GO Transit: Union Station Shed Replacement & Track Upgrades (Zeidler)

It would have made a HUGE difference in the use of platform space. The platforms now between the shed and Simcoe, and between the shed and Yonge are not used at all. Why? Because we chose to preserve the heritage shed in situ. This freezes the track configuration, which means no passing...

Plans to fill in Allen Road

I wish people would zoom out their googleearth a little more: No matter what you do with Allen Road such as terminate it at Lawrence, extend it further, traffic circle..., it will always be a high capacity roadway connected to a lower capacity street grid. Traffic will always be queuing...

Well George Grant was half right.

The original manufacturer of the TR doors went out of business. Probably with reason.

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

Does anyone take Minnan-Wong seriously? I mean the Gardiner will just become a bigger and bigger money pit. Oops, wrong thread. :)

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

A Brimley station makes sense if you're looking at the BD line in isolation and it would be totally awesome if you happened to live there. But rather then spending that money on an underground station, it could be spent on extending the Eglinton LRT further east. With surface stops at Midland...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

People. There is a major sanitary sewer trunk beneath Coxwell. Also this alignment would bypass a highly valuable Thorncliffe Park station.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

I drive the Cobourg - Ottawa route frequently, and take VIA as well. 6 lanes on the 401 is required now. East of Interstate 81 is the only stretch where 4 lanes is adequate. I would applaud more investment into intercity rail since it would get more people out of airplanes and their personal...

^+1 except 7) should go to the Interstate 81 Exit.

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

I was thinking daylight, meaning he'll get less and less honest until the winter solstice. After that, I suppose he'll get more honest, but you'll hardly notice. :)

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

Rob Ford is as honest as the day is long. On a related note, I hope everyone remembered to set their clocks back.

I'm saying the people that elected Mammoliti are idiots!

    YRT/Viva Construction Thread (Rapidways, Terminals)

If the TTC can't get decent signal priority from Toronto Transportation Services, why do you think Metrolinx will have better luck?

    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

The Weston Tunnel and Strachan dig down are removing a lot of material, not just moving it around the site. What I am proposing is to use rail hopper cars to transport that material off site and not a multitude of dump trucks through city streets. Hopper cars would be unloaded out of the city...

    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

If only there were a rail corridor near by, lightly used most of the day, that could be used to haul away this bulk material.

Hey, don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

I'm just saying we have clarity on what was asked here. As to what is actually going to happen, that's still as murky as ever! Its obvious both the provincial liberals and mayoral hopefuls are trolling for votes. Some may even want to see a subway get built. You can bet that 1.8B figure was...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Yes, the deadline for Toronto council to provide clarity on their wishes for the SRT replacement. Toronto council has provided clarity on this. They want an extension of the BD subway and they want other governments to take care of the majority of taxation and funding to make this happen.
