    Street photos 194o's to 1980's

I love how Bay/Bloor is supposed to be one of the busiest intersections in Canada and there aren't any crosswalk lines anywhere. Lol.

    Street photos 194o's to 1980's

Never mind the cabbie ignoring her (she's probably ignoring him) but she's hitch-hiking by a TTC stop. And, SHE'S HITCH-HIKING! Lol. I haven't seen someone hitch-hiking since the early 90s and that was in the country on our way to the cottage.

Despite Toronto, Montreal gridlock, commuters reluctant to use transit

Agree. They can market the transfer as a 'pass'; not a day pass but a 3 hour pass that allows you to use any streetcar, subway and/or bus for 3 hours. All the driver has to do is see the time and date and do the math. This of course would work MUCH better if it everything was electronic.

    Hudson's Bay Company

Or H&M — which is pretty good with prices. Cheaper than Topman and most of what the Bay has to offer (certainly more stylish than the Bay!)

    Hudson's Bay Company

The clothes in Topman so far are very uninspiring (although they had some cool blazers) and rather overpriced. Hopefully come the autumn things will change and the full line will be displayed. Right now it's rather meh.

    Exodus to the Burbs

That's what I fear if they make downtown more 'family-friendly'. Downtown Toronto is already zoned to death and I hate it when people move downtown and then complain about the noise and traffic and seek to zone everything out.

    Exodus to the Burbs

So, safe to say that Woodbridge is appealing to you because it's becoming more urbanised? ;)

    Exodus to the Burbs

There is nothing appealing about the suburbs (Scarborough, Etobicoke, etc) small towns or the 905 to me. It is a lifestyle choice (and financial as well). But, to think that your children (children are usually the reason many go out there) are safer and will lead a better lifestyle in the...

    Hudson's Bay Company

Apparently Topman has opened at the Queen St store. I saw Topshop in the women's dept last Saturday and it was pretty lame. Hopefully this is just a preview. I think it may be as wasn't it not supposed to be ready until the autumn?

Toronto Sherbourne Common, Canada's Sugar Beach, and the Water's Edge Promenade | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto | Teeple Architects

I can't wait until it's finally finished (all the phases). It's going to be beautiful and an area that Torontonians can be proud of. It will be thriving with families, entertainment, parks (utilised all year round) and one of the best views of the city! Rob Ford: He wanted a football field...

An urbanism blogger looks at Cabbagetown, the Annex, Rosedale and Riverdale

He's right about the 60s and 70s. Toronto is notorious for having had zero sympathy for heritage buildings and zero long-term vision in terms of urban development (Gardiner Expressway being PRIME example). Toronto came into its own during the suburban-dream heyday of the 50s and much of its...

Downtown-Wide 'Transportation Study' Planned by City

5-lane suburban-esque highway doesn't belong in a downtown core. An HOV lane still encourges driving a car downtown when in fact the exact opposite should be happening. Travelling-time hasn't been impacted regardless of what Fraud will have you believe. It was safer, and just as fast as a...

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

'Or 'holiday' as we used to say in the office.' I say holiday instead of vacation. I NEVER say 'vacay'. The foyer is beautiful. Is one able to just walk right in?

Fords Working to Fire Webster, Stintz, Scrap Streetcars: Star

Lol. It's unfortunate you can't vote in a Toronto election!

Fords Working to Fire Webster, Stintz, Scrap Streetcars: Star

You'd be surprised. Not as bad as the G20, obviously (as most of the hooligans there weren't even from Toronto! Lol.) But, the streetcar is part of Toronto. It's iconic and part of the feel and vibe (good and bad) of Toronto. There will be an outcry from not just a few, but from many. Of course...

Metres. (Sorry. I couldn't help it. I'm a tool when it comes to spelling.) x

I miss the ads they had at the top. Lol. I liked the way they stuck out and down.

    Why are Condo Podiums Bad?

Totally. But, I'd take a dry cleaner and a Subway shop over a cash advance place or a used book store. My building has a Rabba, a dry cleaner and Red Rocket coffee house. I like the Rabba there and the coffee house is a godsend. But, it would be nice if we had more room for a pub or a restaurant...

    Why are Condo Podiums Bad?

All above points are spot on. Personally, I think it should be made law (yes, law!) that you cannot building a condo within a certain radius of downtown Toronto (or in the entire former City of Toronto) without retail, business, etc, at its podium. I don't care if the foyer is grand and has...
