    Toronto 629 King Residences (was Thompson Residences) | 53.34m | 15s | Freed | Saucier + Perrotte

The site does seem like a good candidate for redevelopment, but the price sounds a bit rich considering 650 King St W (including the parking lot off Bathurst) is very similar in size to the Travelodge property and sold for $9.8 million in June 2007. No doubt that the price was negotiated well...

I agree with both of you in terms of the positive aspects of the building, I guess that's why the pre-cast elements struck me as so out of step with the rest of the design (at least at this point). Again, hope I've just jumped the gun and it will be resolved in due course.

Agreed! I had considered that, but I tried to think of examples of condo developments using painted pre-cast panels (either before or after installation) and couldn't come up with any. I think you're right. The pieces they're using for the corner panels don't appear as bad (in terms of...

    Toronto Spadina Adelaide Square | 185.1m | 58s | Fengate | Arcadis

I actually use Microsoft Live Search maps, but yeah, I'm often struck when I browse the aerial images how many potential redevelopment sites there are.

Has anyone else seen the recently added concrete panels on the east side of the building (photo's 1 & 2) from the street? Even from a distance they don't look particularly well matched.

    Condo Crunch (CBC's Marketplace)

Agreed, but I hadn't intended the comment in those terms, I was referring to the price I paid for my unit vs. what it would cost me today to purchase something similar. And simuls - thanks for the information, it makes sense now in context (the unit I purchased is a small (565 sf) 1 bedroom...

    Condo Crunch (CBC's Marketplace)

Simuls ... is the increase in price you're quoting there a typo? (I bought pre-construction in the King/Spadina area and my unit hasn't increased anywhere near that much).

42 ... did you intend to quote someone else when you posted the above comment? (you quoted my comment, but it looks like you were responding to one of the earlier posts about which stretch of John might best be shut down).

    Toronto The Mercer | 111.55m | 33s | Beaverhall | BBB

I agree with your point of view, but I think it relates more to the perspective of a potential owner/occupier. If I had the choice as a purchaser I'd prefer to live mid-block on Mercer rather than at the corner on John. I expect though that from the developer's point of view the units will...
