2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

I hope that Chow tacks on a bit of money for transit signal priority/bus queue jump lanes where possible, in addition to her promise for a 10% capacity boost.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

This is awesome news! Thanks for sharing this. That makes sense, similar to the 9:40 Bramalea train originally starting out in Lincolnville.

Press Release from MTO: http://news.ontario.ca/mto/en/2014/03/better-go-transit-service-for-gtha-commuters.html Starting June 28, there will be two new weekday morning trains on the Barrie line from Maple to Union Station. There will also be more weekend trips on the Lakeshore lines, with more...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

The thing is, if Greyhound pulls out of the Kitchener market (along with any other market currently served by GO in Ontario), GO wouldn't have the equipment necessary to immediately handle the passenger volumes. Hopefully, deregulation gets some political attention, and this antiqued provision...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I've heard rumors (online) that if GO were to introduce Kitchener-Union service, Greyhound threatened to pull out of the Kitchener-Toronto market altogether. I'm not sure how the dynamic would play out between a publicly-subsidized operator (GO) competing head on with Greyhound/Coach Canada/other.

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

Which right-wingers are you referring to? I've never voted for a conservative candidate municipally, provincially or federally :P. I don't think what I was saying is undiluted insanity. Rob Ford has die-hard fans and die-hard opponents, which is why he's a polarizing figure. I think that Chow...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I believe Greyhound holds the license for the Kitchener-Toronto route. What would it take to remove the multiple PSO's along the line? I really hope #2. happens sooner than later. Travelling through Guelph is painfully slow, as it entering/exiting Georgetown!

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

I agree. So far, Soknacki has been the only real moderate/centrist candidate capable of attracting people from both the left and right wings. Olivia Chow, Rob Ford and John Tory are polarizing figures in their own way, and tend to be characterized by their political affiliation. Electing Chow...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

That's an assumption. I'm not arguing with you about the press release being vague, inaccurate and deceiving, I'm just saying that no one knows for sure whether these new trips to Kitchener are extensions of existing trips or brand new trips.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

"most likely they are just further extensions of existing trains". Why is it most likely that the 4 new trips will all be extensions of current trips? If 4 new train trips originating from Kitchener to Union are announced, the entire line benefits. If that ends up being the case, I will consider...

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

Back to actual policy discussion :P, Soknacki came out in favour of city-wide rules for food trucks and against the veto option for BIAs. Soknacki Campaign ‏@Soknacki2014 2h RT @DavidSoknacki: New food truck rules give resto's veto through BIAs - recipe for less diversity, competition. Need...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Can we agree that these additional 4 trips (2 in the AM and 2 in the PM) represent a small victory for the entire line?

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Dude, relax. Brampton will get AD2W service looong before KW gets it. 2WAD will extend to Mt. Pleasant. KW will just get more peak trains starting in 2016, which benefits Brampton too.

I take issue with those people too! lol Until the formal numbers are out from TC, anyone preaching from the pulpit on the issue of aircraft noise (NoJetsTO or Deluce & co.) is preaching an ideological message. What happened to science-based decision making... :(

Wasn't sure whether or not you were being sarcastic ;). My bad. I too will wait for the Transport Canada numbers, and I think we generally agree on this issue. My issue is with people who jump on the "jets are so noisy!!!! *loses mind*" crowd before the official numbers become available and...

Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

So I just have to go to that one website, which is biased against the jets. When formulating an argument, it is best to hear both sides of the story, hear from experts on both sides and then formulate an opinion on the topic. I'll acknowledge looking at specs is reasonable research when...

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

I think it's sort of pathetic how people are so gung-ho for a candidate and so against others. Regarding transit platforms, the candidates have months to release how they plan on funding their proposals. Those on here who've blasted Tory for not saying how he'll pay for the DRL yet praise Chow...

Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

Have you conducted any research on, or have any knowledge about the Pratt & Whitney PW1500G to say something like "the impact is anything but marginal"? At this point, it seems as though arguments against the CS100 aircraft at Billy Bishop have been made without regard for the aircraft's...
