GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

In Metrolinx's own words, this is "to accommodate a significant number of advanced GO train ticket bookings that have been made".

    Toronto CIBC SQUARE | 241.39m | 50s | Hines | WilkinsonEyre

    For me, that's East Harbour.

Same reason why it was green at the diving pool at Rio 2016 probably.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Solidarity with Hong Kong, which is seeing a sudden rise in cars just "breaking down" in the middle of the street over the last day or so. EDIT: Just realized that was from Monday, but still an awesome sight to behold...

    Toronto Pearson International Airport

There will be people trying to sell you tickets to something called the "Heathrow Express". Ignore them.

York University - Major Capital Priorities

I hope not. York is a suburban campus with a suburban feel. If you want an urban campus, go to Ryerson or U of T.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I asked because I probably sound like that (well, not exactly, but...). My sister says it's strange how I still speak with a Chinese accent, despite the fact that I came here when I was five and have basically no Chinese friends (although I speak Cantonese at home).

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I hope you don't mind me asking, but are you Chinese? (I was born in Hong Kong) Because that voice...

    TTC: New Fare Gate Installation

Well, if it's from someone like Steve Munro... but I suppose he has his unofficial contacts inside the TTC, so he doesn't have to rely on twitter

    Downtown Markham

I wish it'll be a Metro but almost certainly not (there are no Metros in all of Southern York Region: the closest ones are in Bramalea City Centre, North York Centre, and Bridlewood Mall)

    Ottawa Transit Developments

You definitely don't want to live in New York, Tokyo, or Shanghai then (we were talking on a global scale)

    Ottawa Transit Developments

Looking at the metro area, Vancouver's population is about 2.4 million, while Toronto is anywhere between 5.5 to 9 million (GTA vs GTHA vs Golden Horseshoe). As an aside, I once heard someone say that Vancouver's population of 2 million (at the time) is the ideal size of a city: big enough to...

York Region Transit: Viva service thread

True, but late at night, the majority of riders are travelling from Finch or Richmond Hill Centre and getting off at the on-street stops.

    Toronto 4800 Yonge Street | 168.24m | 49s | Menkes | Arquitectonica

Do you think Jane/Highway 7 will look like that in 10-20 years? It's certainly supposed to, if the City of Vaughan gets its way.

York Region Transit: Viva service thread

From the document: "Conventional and Viva service will operate at an approximate 15 minute frequency" Hopefully this means that they are syncing the schedules (effectively interlining) Viva Blue/Route 98/99, Viva Purple/Route 1, and Viva Orange/Route 77. There shouldn't be too much of a...

    Vaughan Transit City Condos | 176.17m | 55s | CentreCourt | Diamond Schmitt

The numbers for Highway 407 station in that article are from before the changes to GO bus service and are almost certainly very inaccurate.

I was told by a barista that the Starbucks is moving inside the mall at the end of March.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

The stations feel similiar to the newer Skytrain stations.

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

That's actually an idea...The Hong Kong Tram covers largely the same route as the MTR, but survives because it's much cheaper and comes with a view.
